Lahad Datu is a wonderful launching pad to seeing nature in Borneo. The people are so nice, an old man stopped us to give us each a paper airplane he’d made as a good luck charm for our travels. Locals will ask to take photos with you, and will help you out all the time. A wonderful place to be, we felt like celebrities! The shops and restaurants are also spot on!

Apart from the rainforest absolutely nothing to do.

Apart from the rainforest absolutely nothing to do. This town is not amenable to tourists. I had to search for a taxi from the bus terminal. Taxi driver took a picture of himself and me to show his mates, they are so unused to visitors!
