In our very short stay in Tenom, I realised there is still more to be discovered and learn (in terms of the Murut people's culture and heritage). One should also experience the scenic train ride that goes to and from Tenom.

Tenom is a lovely little agricultural town with some hidden secrets if you know where to look or if you know the right people who will bring you to the right places. The people are generally warm & friendly. It is most popular for it's local coffee. Tenom Coffee Valley Cafe (TCV Cafe) is probably the best place to chill, wind-down or hangout in Tenom. It uses only local brands/beans for its coffee & has the best cookies in town. They also have a variety on its menu ranging from cakes to western and asian/local fusion meals. They do not serve pork but alcohol is available for happy hours. The market is famous for breakfast (non-halal - yong tau fu & sabah eggrolls) but you will have to go very early to avoid any disappointments. There are also a few restaurants serving tasty local dishes (Tenom steamed or soya sauce chicken is most popular) - ask some of the locals to recommend. Tenom is generally a small town so it's very hard for you to get lost - unless you travel to its interiors or rural villages. Some enjoyable activities here would be visiting its crystal clear rivers & hiking some of the secluded waterfalls - again, if you are lucky enough to be guided by a knowledgeable local. If you are even more lucky to know a local farmer/agriculturist, you'll probably get a chance to visit/tour a farm.
