Very good value for money, idyllic & peaceful location - lovely views to wake up to over the farmland. Head torches provided for if you want to visit the local glow worm spot, we found this was also a great place for star gazing! Spacious and nicely decorated room. Owner was very friendly and happy to help & make suggestions for local places to visit.

On this trip we went with Spellbound Cave Explorer.
On this trip we went with Spellbound Cave Explorer. Went to two caves the first, after a short walkthrough bush we entered the cave and then got into a rubber raft where we were pulled along the underground stream , looking up at the ceiling it was covered with glow-worms. Very pretty & fascinating. After a coffee break we went into the second cave where we saw lots of stalagmites and stalactites and even the bones of an ancient extinct bird, the Moa. The guide was very knowledgeable and told us how the rock formations were formed. An excellent tour.

Stunning stalactites and stalagmite formations. A huge cave.
Stunning stalactites and stalagmite formations. A huge cave. The tour guide was well spoken and clear and sung beautifully to demonstrate the acoustics.
Very clean and spacious walking areas, well supported stairs. Much bigger than imagined. The glow worms were so pretty it was like a stary night sky in the outback. Priceless experience.

Glowworms good.
Glowworms good. Cave formations underwhelming compared to Tasmania and not value for money, tour guides were excellent though.
Village pub and restaurant food was just average but staff were friendly and professional.

We did the Waitomo Cave boat tour in the evening before dinner and the Ruakuri Cave tour the next morning. They both were stunning. Guides were friendly and informative. We heard from another couple on the second tour that they had done several other caves and an exciting adventure (the Abyss if I remember correctly). I want to do that next time.

The caves are fantastic and well worth seeing.
The caves are fantastic and well worth seeing. Harrison was a great tour guide (and has a good singing voice too)
The pathway through is well paved and there are a few sets of steps, but they do have good handrails.
People say that once you've seen glow worms you've seen them all, but you can't quite beat the sheer number of them as you go through the caves on the boat.
If you can avoid the noisy people who can't be quiet when they've been asked to and then don't know what comes next because they weren't listening, this will enhance your trip.

We just did the one cave.
We just did the one cave. I would recommend doing the main caves and the Ruatara as well. If you are young and up for it, add the black water rafting. Oh and don’t forget the night time walk of Ruatara - see Lonely Planet.
The main building where the kitchen and lounge are, is clean and has everything you can think of for a pleasant stay.
Bathrooms a d shower are clean.
Our double room was as big as 2 beds and less than 2 meters in between, if you're visiting the caves and need somewhere to sleep, it's a good setup.
If you don't want to cook, the cafe nearby has good food. We tried their boil up pie and breakfasts, we loved them the food.
Loved everything about this B&B! Very comfortable, quiet and safe! Beautiful views! The hosts, John and Helen, were so nice and informative! Breakfast was incredible! The French toast with bacon was delicious, and John's special sauce on the poached eggs (which were perfectly done) was soooo good! Located only a few minutes away from Black Water Rafting. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!
Great atmosphere, friendly owner always joking around, beautiful surroundings (farm), clean showers and kitchen, option to buy items for dinner/breakfast, and lots of communal space (inside & out!) with couches, benches and games, books...
For those arriving with InterCity Bus: they're willing to pick you up, just call ahead if you don't feel like walking.
This place was EXCEPTIONAL. Tucked up in the hills just a short drive from town, te tiro provided excellent hospitality, views, and comfort. This (not so little) glamping site had it all. Dont let the idea of sleeping in a tent deter you - this was more comfortable and charming than many hotel stays I have had, with flexibility and special touches to boot!
This is not a Motel. It is cabins and do not have toilet or bathroom facilities in them. You have to walk to another area for them. They were clean and well-maintained with good heating and ventilation. Basic but good-sized (king single bunks) beds with good bedding. Great kitchen and dining room (shared) Good cafe next door for breakfast.
We had a lovely room off the main verandah. The breakfast room was very pleasant where we enjoyed a light breakfast. The owner was very thorough with the orientation he gave us on arrival. We were in walking distance to the pub for our evening meal.
Quirky and fun place to stay and also very comfortable and very good value. Helen, the energetic hostess, was full of interesting info and recommendations. The breakfast was delicious as was the dinner recommendation in Hulu.
Such a beautiful property, woke up for a spectacular sunrise with the farm animals, birds, and landscape. I wish we stayed a couple days longer to enjoy the nearby hikes suggested in the room. Breakfast was awesome!
The owner was great. She gave us suggestions for dinner, directions to the grocery store, directions to the local attractions and suggested a place to get a quick breakfast. The room was good sized, clean and neat.
A novelty experience that's quite unique to be in your very own Hobbit house. As per website photos. Love the concept and would recommend others trying the experience. Waitomo Caves are a short drive away.
Highly recommend the facility. Close to the Waitomo Caves, close to shops, restaurants - most distance. Breakfast included. Comfortable, clean and lovely hosts. Do recommend
Very close to Waitomo Caves, so it was super convenient. We arrived late, so we didn't get to really experience the whole hotel area except sleep. The basics are met here.
Amazing location with very friendly and helpful hosts. Breakfast and a bowl of fresh fruit was provided and greatly appreciated. Modern, comfortable and very clean room.
Very unique experience and a brilliantly executed idea. The location is perfect, near to Waitomo Caves and extraordinarily peaceful for those looking to unwind.
