The part of the island we stayed at was/has been/could be...

The part of the island we stayed at was/has been/could be amazing and very beautiful but now feels like the land that time forgot. It Needs life and atmosphere and some TLC. It’s full of rubbish/plastic/refrigerators and looks uncared for. I’m sure it has so much more to offer but there was Limited info available about the island. We hiked but were not sure about snakes or how the people living there felt about outsiders walking around. There were no tracks to follow or obvious routes so we had to take our chances as there was no one at the Sunrise to talk to. One day I hope this place will be alive again, loved and cared for. Currently it is a lonely, isolating experience. The beaches and the sea are fun. Wildlife is pretty non existent. Birdlife is minimal - they could put feeders out which would attract many more species. Only place to eat was where we stayed which was bland and lacked flavour or variety. There were no food choices. The price of food and drink here was reasonable. The water taxi costs $80 dollars each way or if you found others who were going on the same day this reduced to $60.. This is not advertised - however, when you made the booking Jose (CEO) from the city would WhatsApp All the details over. He was very very knowledgeable but wasn’t on the island to support with its visit and once there, there was no way of contacting him. There are no others places to stay on the island. There are some abandoned buildings which would have been accommodation at some point. There are many Un harvested crops and coconuts regularly fall from the trees. We went there full of excitement as part of our honeymoon and although it was challenging, cold showers (were fine) very limited electricity and no wifi or hotspot for planning your next move on, it was the talking point of our trip but for all the wrong reasons. Thanks for reasons. Definitely, somewhere to look out for in the future.
