Vittfarnas Vikingagård
We searched Booking.com for a hotel with free parking and this place came up. As it was the only one available at the time, we booked it. To describe it as a hotel is misrepresentation. The “double room with patio” is in fact a glamping pod with an outdoor seating area around a fire pit. A nice man came and lit a fire “because he had been told to do so” and put it out again when we asked. There were NO facilities in the “room” because it had no electricity, no water and little headroom. To get in one needed to climb some wooden steps and then duck. There was a very annoying flashing fire detector which had to be disconnected to get some sleep. The bed was very comfortable, if sloping somewhat, and it was very dark. The “shared bathroom” requires a walk outside down an unlit earthen path for 50m, inconvenient if you need it in the middle of the night. The “bathroom” was a chipboard shed sporting two sinks adjacent to each other with no privacy whatever. Essentially there was only one set of facilities. Each family needed to take turns to use them, after quite a long wait if someone was taking their time over their ablutions.
As a camping/glamping experience this would be an adventure; as a hotel/bed and breakfast, it does not deserve the name. The price of over £100 is a ridiculous amount to pay for these facilities, even in Sweden. Had it not been after 19.30 when we arrived, we would have looked elsewhere.
Be warned.
