You see a lot of crap online of wether or not Santa Ana is safeS we had zero problems and never felt unsafe at all. Santa Ana and El Salvador in general have made huge inprovements in safety these last years. The town is nice , you'll strugle to find a building with more than 2 stories. It has preserved it's old world charm. Not supermany things to do or see but a good base to go exploring from

The road especially the side streets are horrible.
The road especially the side streets are horrible. Needs a traffic officer in all the main road that are under construction even at night. I closed my eyes hoping that my husband won’t hit a vehicle as he drove on tight traffic areas. I’m worried that our rental car won’t break down on the unpaved roads- lots of rocks and open pits.
The Santa Ana people are very helpful and kind.

I really liked the Santa Ana Cathedral.
I really liked the Santa Ana Cathedral. As an amateur photographer, I also liked the colorful and dilapidated buildings around the cathedral. They made a great backdrop for street photography. Unfortunately, I spent only a day here so I was not able to see or do many things in the area. It is a great location to jump off the Ruta de las Flores though. I’m definitely happy that I decided to start the route here and not from San Salvador.

Santa Ana is a medium sized city tucked in the mountains.
Santa Ana is a medium sized city tucked in the mountains. The market is fun to explore and cathedral and theatre are gorgeous. Outside of town there are ruins, volcanoes, and a lake within an hour. The town doesn't have much tourism which gives it a more authentic feel, but also means you won't find many good restaurants around the square or at night.
Stayed in a private here. A little bit more expensive than other privates in Santa Ana but worth it. Room was clean, bathroom nice. The shower was a rain style shower with the best water pressure I’ve experienced, hot water, honestly one of the best showers I’ve come across. Hammocks around the hostel were nice to chill, terrace for a few drinks with other guests. The breakfast was above and beyond with both cold and hot options that vary daily. Well stocked kitchen. Staff were really helpful. Really great hostel :)
Excellent place to base yourself for Santa Ana & vicinities exploration. Clean, well maintained, equipped with great kitchen for self-cooking and what most important the owner Aminta is a very kind and genuine person who also speaks English that may help a lot for those who aren’t quite savvy to speak Spanish on a decent level.
The hotel was what we were looking for. A value, good breakfast, easy access to Santa Ana and surrounding site seeing. Luis was exceptional with taking us around the major sites. Speaks great English, knowledgeable on politics and history, and could recommend best spots within each location.
Great hostel with a family atmosphere. The owners are very nice and always available to give advice on activities to undertake. Everything is very clean and the kitchen is well equipped. Nice pool to refresh and sweet pets. Absolutely recommended for those passing through Santa Ana!
The staff was so friendly and helpful. Customer service was just amazing. The rooms were clean. The AC was great! And the breakfast was delicious every day. The location was perfect. There were many shops and restaurants around the hotel. The city center was also walking distance.
One of the best Hotels I ever stayed in El Salvador. This place and the people are so lovely. We booked first 2 nights and extended than 3 more night, we won’t not to leave.
When you searching a good place in Santa Ana to stay, here you go ! Thank you very much for everything
It may be one of better accomodation options in Santa Ana, though it doesnt change the fact it is very rudimentary and of rather lower quality. Probably the restaurant may be an exception, which I didn’t try, but saw many locals coming over from outside just to dine out there.
The hostel is in a great location in Santa Ana and there are two goats which is a unique experience. The people who were working at the hostel were very nice and informative about where we can go and what transportation we need to get to get to other areas in El Salvador.
Place is very well taken care of. Everyone was so nice and kind. Only thing is rooms are very small and we wished we knew they had fridges available with extra fee . Overall we loved our stay there and when we go back to El Salvador again, we will stay there for sure.
The hostel have multiple rooms to chill and all the equipment you need (kitchen, laundry room…). The owner is personally there and he gives you tips about trips and nightlife. He wants to make sure you have the best experience in Santa Ana and it’s surroundings.
* Nice courtyard and clean swimming pool
* rain shower in my dorm room with hot water
* fans and AC in the dorm
* excellent shared kitchen
* staff are really helpful
* rooftop terrace with a great view of Santa Ana and the surrounding mountains
Very close to the cathedral and town square, spacious room with high ceilings. Cute boutique hotel vibe, courtyard restaurant - breakfast is included. They arrange tours to the volcano. They also do laundry on site for a reasonable price.
good value for money, clean, and breakfast was small but perfect start to the day. staff were really helpful although don’t speak great English. for what you pay this is perfect for a couple of nights in Santa Ana.
Very friendly owner, near to the centre of Santa Ana and felt very safe. The next door neighbour cooked a few nights a week to sell to locals and it was tremendous. I really enjoyed the friendliness of everyone.
nice, clean room with little balcony, decent bar, right on water, the man running the place was the only person during our week in El Salvador we came across who spoke English, good breakfast
good location. short walk to the plaza and various bus stops for trips to volcan Santa ana and ruta Flores etc.
clean, good WiFi, fairly basic but clean and decent enough kitchen for use.
The staff is very helpful for planning excursions and finding good places to eat in Santa Ana. The guest house is close to a really good pupusa restaurant.
