An excellent place to stay, that's not too far from the main downtown area of Surat Thani. It was clean and the air conditioner was cold.
Note for first-time visitors to Thailand (am mentioning this, because various reviews talk about firm mattresses): beds in Thailand (and much of Asia) are typically much firmer than those soft ones in western countries. I've found it beneficial to my back. But if you don't want a firm bed in Asia, best to stay in western-owned chain hotels, or hotels specifically built for western tourists. Most hotels in Thailand cater to Thai travellers/tourists primarily, so they're not going to put in soft beds.
