Kanchanaburi was a fun place to stay for two nights.
Kanchanaburi was a fun place to stay for two nights. Erawan waterfall was definitely worth a visit. I was there in early March and other waterfalls in the area I was told might not be worth the trip due to having less water. Erawan has much less water this time of year than the rainy season, but it was still a very beautiful place to visit. I enjoyed the railroad museum and seeing the bridge over the river Kwai. There are good food and coffee options in Kanchanaburi and the train from Bangkok was a fun (but hot) experience.

Fantastic city to expand your knowledge of WWII. The Bridge.
Fantastic city to expand your knowledge of WWII. The Bridge. Thai-Burma Railway Museum (don't waste your time with any of the others). Commonwealth graves immaculately maintained. Hellfire Pass an hour away (watch The Railway Man before you go). Also great golf.

We loved a 2 days stay at ElephantsWorld!!!
We loved a 2 days stay at ElephantsWorld!!! That was the most incredible experinece so far in my life. The elephants are not chained, they walk around on their own, and after the afternoon visits leave the place you can stay alone with them.
We also loved Erawan Falls a lot! And of course you go to see the River Kwai Bridge. But we could have stayed for a week or more in the region - it is beautiful!

Apart from the attraction of the Commonwealth War Graves(...
Apart from the attraction of the Commonwealth War Graves(including many Dutch graves), the Bridge over the River Kwai and the War Museums, it is quite a large town, but without much to attract the average tourist. It is the gateway to the surrounding area with lovely countryside and other War memorials etc. But it really is not a holiday town.

I've been living in Thailand for 20 years, Kanchanburi is my favourite province. If you play golf as we do, there are several beautiful courses within 50kms form the city, some of them best in the country. When it comes to tourist attractions, there is plenty to do, from the very well known (River Kwai train & Museum, Hellfire Pass, Erawan National Park) to gems nested on the burmese border such Sangklaburi (Three pagodas pass) in the north or Pilok up in the mountains in the west for the more adventurous.

I loved the lush vegetation of Kanchanaburi and the serenity of the place. I made a point of visiting the sites available to visitors like, obviously, the Bridge on the River Kwai, JEATH Museum, and War Cemetery, Death Railway Museum and Hell Fire Pass - all of which commemorate the brutality of what those Allied POW's went through, but sadly not much is made of the brutality that the local people suffered who were forced to 'help' with the building of the bridge. Very sad!
What was not to like in this little gem as I was visiting for 2 days/ nights.
Staff were exceptionally friendly, my room was super clean & a nice size (Room 406) set on the level with a nice sun deck where I captured a glorious sunrise with a coffee.
Breakfast was a lovely choice
If you are looking for a nice hotel, a mere 5 min stroll to the bars/restaurants & only a 10 min stroll to the bridge over the River Kwai & War museum, then look no further.
ATM only 500 yards away also
A must stay if visiting Kanchanaburi
The view was absolutely stunning - the staff were extremely welcoming, helpful and friendly.
The food at the restaurant was to die for!! It is relatively out of the way, but well worth it and would 100% stay here again. We planned our stay just to visit the Kanchanaburi sites, however in hindsight, I would have booked an extra night or two just to relax at the hotel - our highlight of the Thai trip!
The rude reception staff unfriendly and miserable spoiled what could of been a (8 + )good hotel.
On check out they asked us where 2 of the empty glasses of drinks purchased from the to take to the pool were and made us run around hotel to find them. Insane.
Reception should not work
Until they are trained. They cannot even say good morning.
At first I was afraid that I choose wrong accommodation. We are the only one guest there but the owner did very good job to host us and help to anything we need during stay including excursion to some spots in Kanchanaburi. The Hotel it self far away from the city but so relaxing. We do have a great time there and surely will comeback again.
Best Staff, Best Breakfast ever (first ever made as we ordered it there & then) 12 years coming to Thailand never before got breakfast as fresh as that, Pool cleaned every morning ( I'm awake at 6 & saw the people cleaning it) Staff just great all round, Hotel spotless, Location great ,cafe's restaurants River Kwai Bridge minutes away.
Super clean, super quiet, super Nice, and the landlords are super kind and helpful.
I fully recommend this guest house, you'll be like at home for a very fair price.
Don't hesitate to ask them for a visite around the city as well, we had a wonderfull 3 days in Kanchanaburi thanks to them
The Hotel is a bit outside of kanchanaburi. So I would recommend a car to get around .
The hotel itself is at first sight nice. The path leading to the rooms, pool and river is lovely with lots of nice details.
The room is spacious.
Staff was polite and nice.
Hotel's breakfast is nice, plenty of choices. The room is big and clean. The bathroom is well organize with bathtub. The hotel facilities are good. Customer can enjoy dining by the Khwae river and nice atmosphere at night.
the staffs are friendly. hostel was okay for me for staying couple days there. because I didn’t stay at hotel much. good location , close to bus station and train station . good place for backpacker who is on budget.
The Raft Bungalow on the river is spacious and clean. The pool is nice, clean and big enough. The whole resort hotel is in a beautiful location and well maintained.
