“They gave us a room very very early in the morning to take a bath and rest as we arrived in the night train from Beijing. And then we move at midday to our definitive room. Also they gave us information about bus to go to Yungam and the temples and to the centre. Finally we can stay in a quiet area near the lobby area until very late in the last day with free wifi until we departed to the station. Room clean Staff is doing their best to communicate with you. If they are not able to do in English, they use the mobile phone apps to translate. Great”

“The first thing that made impression was the amazing service provided. The staff was very warm and spoke fluent English. The owner Simon provided maps and timetables and took the time to basically explain to us everything we needed to know. The place also offered good coffee at low prices. The rooms were clean and warm. We went there in the winter and even though the temperatures outside were -16 C we could walk barefoot inside the room. Overall a very cozy atmosphere and a very convenient travel!”

Everybody was so very friendly. The cleaning ladies gave special attention to small observations and details (Humidifier in the room after I had a nosebleed from the dryness). At the reception Joe Jackson did all he could to make our stay pleasant and easy. And in the restaurant a very special mention for Taylor who was just the perfect host in every way you can imagine. We had an very early flight and he prepared the perfect in-room pick nick box not to leave on an empty stomach. Bringing our favorite green tea afterwards... It made our stay in a fascinating, but cold and snowy Datong so warm !!!!”

Especially because the old city of Datong is drastically rebuilt and it will be a real jewel in the months to come.”

“The location was good if you arrived at the train station. Come out of the station and turn left...then on the left-hand-side you will see a pretty grim tunnel that is not that well lit... But safe... Go to the end of the tunnel.. Come to the traffic lights ahead of you, cross the road and turn right... Hotel is a 5 minute walk. Everyone was very helpful, especially the girls at the reception. Room was good, comfortable. Even though only one girl spoke very little English, everyone went out of their way to help me. It was great!”

“If you look for a true chinese experience this is the place: you stay in an apartment with a real chinese family. There's the smiley grandma, there's the funny 6 years old daughter, the kind mama, and the unkind father. There's also friends or relatives, mainly man, who expectorate all the time in a very dirty way, who urinate from outside the toilett (guess how the floor gets) and smoke inside the apartment, even in their beds. It's bad, it's ugly and it's dirty. But it's cheap, and for the experience you get, I totaly recomend!”
