“This was an excellent location if you want to do the El Caminito del Rey hike or many other outdoor activities or even if you just want to get away from it all. It’s very quite and peaceful at night. Wonderful to walk around the dam and the lake. The area does get busier during the day when the buses come with hikers. But the hotel is across the dam and around a corner so it is still quiet. Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. The restaurant was great! Pedro and the rest of the staff gave us excellent food and outstanding service. Would definitely go back for a longer stay to explore the area more.”

“This is a superb small house just outside Ardeles [15 minutes on foot]. We were met in the village and escorted to the property with efficiency and great friendliness. Awaiting us was fruit and a bottle of wine. The wood stove was set ready for lighting. We spent the afternoon sitting outside - views excellent - watching the local goats being taken to pasture and horses being trained. We cooked ourselves dinner using the superbly equipped kitchen facilities [which included a lot of comestibles such as tea, coffee, olive oil etc.]. Then ate by candlelight with the wood stove keeping us comfortable. Had we known how nice this place was we would have arranged to stay longer. It was ideal for our visit to the well known Caminito del Rey itself [a vertigo inducing gorge boardwalk] which is about 20 minutes away by car but the area has other attractions - Ardales itself and a remarkable structure at Bobastro which had been a place of worship a thousand years ago. and is in very pleasant countryside. There are several long distance footpaths.”
