“We had originally planned to stay 2 nights, but I cancelled 1, when I read there was no wifi in the rooms! How I regret! This was by far the nicest place so far! Yes, they have only limited wifi in the restaurant, but who cares! There is actually not even electricity except through solar panels, but you don,t miss anything. If the owners hadn,t told us and asked us politely if we could switch off lights when we don,t need it, we would never have noticed. They have everything you need of electric devices, even hair drier, tv etc and you can make your own meal on gas if you like, but why should you? We ordered a meal in the on site restaurant, which was the best meal we had in Crete. And that says a lot! Limited choise, ok, but be sure it is because it is home cooked and only 6 rooms on the premises, far away from anything else in the mountains. If they have lambs liver on the menu when you are there, please order it! Exceptional and not what people eat any more, but soooo good! In the evening the owner played lute and sang old greek folk songs for us! I woke up more refreshed than in a long time hearing birds, a donkey waiting for his food, some sheep in the distance and a beautiful sunrise over the mountains. Why didn,t we stay 2 nights? I hope we come back.”

“The Mezonete is a nice, comfortable Cretan traditional style stone house where we've spent the second half of our holiday. We've got the key of the house from Sofia, who expected us in the village center. She was a very nice host - she presented us the surroundings, showed us the interior of the house and its utilities (e.g. explained quickly how to use the boiler for hot water). A bit difficult to find a parking place there, but we managed it - we parked nearby Agios Georgios stone church, each night. The welcoming was so warm, the fridge was full - fresh grapes, some slices of pressed cheese, cold water (much appreciated when we came, after a long, exhausting trip from Hania, via Kourna Lake), wine, raki etc. The distance to Heraklion is 20 km, the road from Krousson to Heraklion is excellent. Every day we visited few of the famous Cretan touristic spots - Knossos archaelogical site, Sfendoni Cave, El Greco's house in Fodele etc. and some beautiful beaches - Malia, Karteros, Matala etc. We enjoyed our stay in Krousson, we felt great here and hope to visit it again.”
