“Room was clean, hot water (after 5 minutes) and plumbing all worked fine. A 1 minute walk from a good beach and great swimming. Murud is a delight: we saw one other western face in the four days we were there. Janjira castle, 4km south, and Kadish beach, 17km north served by local bus or shared autorickshaw, are both excellent. But Murud itself caters for Indian holidaymakers, and for once in India you feel almost invisible. A great place to chill out. Not as good value for money as, say, a Kerala resort like Kovalam, but instead you get a totally different feeling not being in a western tourist trap. If going from Mumbai, the ferry from the Gateway to India to Alibag takes just over one hour and costs Rs100 (say £1 sterling) and a shared taxi to Murud from there is about the same price and duration. Taxi from Mumbai takes 6-7 hours and costs Rs7,000 (say £70 sterling).”
