“Everything, the size of each room, the decoration, the little touches like all the flowers and the great selection of books, all the different animals; dogs, cat & kittens, horses, cows, black pigs and sheep that surround the area or live in the herdade. The bed was very comfortable, there was AC in the right places, the pool was clean and greatly located, it really felt like it was a place designed for me. This is somewhere to go with some lovely pork to BBQ, a good bottle of red to watch the magical sun set, have a swim, read a book and maybe even nap on a hammock. Sad to have left and hope it remains the same for when I return.”

“Terena is not an obvious spot to stay but we were very happy to have made the decision as it is a lovely small village and Casa de Terena is a great place to stay. It is an old house but everything was very comfortable. We had a very nice room with a view over the landscape and a very good spacious tasteful bathroom and very good shower. There was no airconditioning but a fan and the window provided good air flow. The beds were very comfortable. There was a living room where one could sit with a choice of drinks from a bar and you simply had to note down what you consumed. You could leave water and other things in the fridge in the kitchen and use the dining room table to eat your own food. The breakfast was excellent with lots of fresh bread, cheese, fresh fruit, eggs, yogurt, and nice biscuits. Alentino who looks after the house was very welcoming and friendly, told us about the house and very readily answered all our questions. The whole place was very clean and cosy and you could also imagine having a nice stay in winter there. It helps to have a car when you stay in Terena as in the newer part of the village at the bottom of the hill there is only one restaurant and one shop. You can walk to the nearby Santuário de Nossa Senhora da Boa Nova which is definitely worth a visit and there is a reservoir nearby where one can swim which we didn't do however. We went to Elvas and Monsaraz from Terena and it is not far to Evora and many other interesting places. We also did the Conquista de Terena walk through cork plantations which was very nice though we didn't manage to get to the reservoir which is part of the walk.”
