“The inclusion of breakfast was an unexpected plus. I felt sorry for the other guests who wandered into the restaurant looking for breakfast and could not even purchase food at that time. It would be nice if the hotel was able to sell breakfast to guests who don’t have a meal ticket, but my roommate and I were properly credentialed at check-in, so we can’t personally complain about the setup. Another great thing about the hotel is that check-in starts very early. I was able to acquire our room key around 9 or 10 am, which was highly convenient! Also, as I’ve previously stayed at the adjacent hostel, I can vouch for the cuisine offered at Mrs. Panda. If we’d been at the Traffic Hotel for more than one night, we would have ended up walking across the bridge that connects the Traffic’s 2nd floor restroom to the hostel’s outdoor patio, then gone inside to order some mapo tofu or scrambled eggs with tomatoes...the food is always excellent and not very expensive, plus the menu is printed in English and thoroughly illustrated. Our room was clean and spacious, with a great view of the city. I feel that we received amazing value for the price spent, and I would definitely stay here again in the future!”

“The location is fantastic. Get off at Exit A at Tonghuimen Station and you're nearly there. It's a tremendously atmospheric street of old buildings adjoining a couple of nice parks and teahouses. The staff are superlative. Their English is excellent, and they're keen to chat or be helpful to you -- without being over-keen. I received a couple of free room upgrades, and a little stuffed panda as a token of gratitude upon checkout. They also helped me get tickets to the Sichuan Opera...a can't miss experience only 5 minutes' walk from the hotel. It's a really sweet place, staffed with really kind people. I was honestly sad to leave. If you're going to stay in Chengdu, I can't possibly imagine a place you'd rather stay.”
