Gateshead boasts the Angel of The North, a huge statue that is already its most recognised (and controversial) symbol. While in Newcastle the Vampire Rabbit sits above a door near St Nicholas’ Cathedral. Newcastle United Football Club has the most prestigious record, but Gateshead Stadium has seen many a star compete at its international athletics meets. With a plasma TV in each guest room, the Grainger Hotel is just a mile from Newcastle’s vibrant centre. It has a 24-hour front desk, a relaxed lounge with Sky TV, and a games room with billiards.
“Close to the bus Stop, and you can have access to any bus to the city centre which is not so far. I like the area, so many takeaways, restaurant and also a lounge area inside hotel”

Located at the mouth of the River Tyne, in the historic seaside town of Tynemouth, the Grand Hotel is set upon a cliff top and boasts views of Longsands beach and the North Sea.
“Tynemouth was an unexpectedly lovely place. The beach was really nice and we enjoyed a (sadly brief) look around the castle and priory. Great fish and chip dinner and then a good night sleep before off to walk Hadrians wall! It looked much nicer to stay here than around Wallsend and I'm very glad we did.”

A jewel in the heart of South Tyneside, this hotel was formally the home of Sir William Fox who was 3 times prime minister of New Zealand.
“This place is a gem and I'm so happy to have found it - will probably stay there every time I go back to the North East. I cannot say how pleased I was with every aspect of my visit. The people are wonderful - super friendly, helpful, considerate and professional. The room was exactly appropriate for my purposes and everything I needed to accomplish. The location is beautiful and a real surprise to me - I grew up just a few miles away and was completely unaware of this quiet, elegant neighbourhood. What remains to be said is about the Full English Breakfast - everything you could ask and more, especially the black pudding, which I cannot get in Texas! My sincerest thanks to all at the Sir William Fox for making my visit successful, comfortable and highly enjoyable.”

The hotel is 300 metres from the terminal building at Newcastle Airport and a 15-minute Metro ride from Newcastle city centre. It has free Wi-Fi, free parking, a restaurant and a cocktail bar.
“I like the cozy old style atmosphere. Although the hotel holds functions, it is very quiet on the accommodation side. Very close for early morning flight from Newcastle airport. Good food!”
