  “I came to Dong Ha for the first time since 1968-69 when I was an 18 year old Marine. I stayed at the hotel despite, or because of reading a bad review by one Dave from Canberra, Australia. My experience with the people I met at the hotel, and in Cam Lo and more was very positive, and I will be back again within three months. The Australian gent complained about the size of the hotel. They have bigger ones in Australia. He said that "I think that the staff could do some good leadership to give them some confidence in what they are doing." But, he doesn't say why, or be specific. That's one problem when people write negatively about a place. To me, the staff were well trained, and did not seem to lack confidence. They were a great bunch of people, and that includes the restaurant staff. I ate there all four nights because I enjoyed a particular dish that was very tasty, and of good quality. And, I tipped all staff generously in appreciation. As soon as the taxi pulled up to the door the doormen had my stuff taken to the desk fast. I'll always remember the security guard on duty when I arrived; he had a great sense of humour. The room was spacious and very clean, and I had a nice view of the beautiful green countryside that had once been ruined by US military bases. It was nice to see the difference; that meant a lot to me. My first afternoon I went to Cam Lo and walked 9 out of the 15klms back to the hotel and then driven to the hotel door by two gents. During my walk I had a chance to meet with a number of Vietnamese people who showed me great hospitality. I would recommend a stay at the hotel if you come to Dong Ha!”
