Our host Abel made sure we had everything covered: he organized tours as well as recommendations on local activities and and around Puerto Villamil. The aircon units and the onsite water dispenser are very useful in this hot place.

Everything was amazing. The location, just in front of the sea and the facilities were great. And the staff, all were nice and always available and helpful. In our case, they all gave us tips on things to do in the island. Defenitely recommended.

Hotel is located in the second row of the beach. There is party at the beach (Pink Iguana Bar) on Fridays and Saturdays. I heard guests with rooms facing the beach complaining about noise during weekend nights. My room was facing the back country. With my windows closed I did not hear anything during weekend nights.

Fly to Seymour Airport, Baltra Island, Ecuador, then take a ferry to Santa Cruz Island and a bus to Puerto Ayora. From there, a 2-hour ferry ride reaches Puerto Villamil. For domestic travellers, direct flights to Baltra from Quito or Guayaquil are available.
The most convenient airport for both domestic and international travellers is Seymour Airport, Baltra. It's the closest to Puerto Villamil, approximately 100km away, and offers frequent connections to mainland Ecuador.

We enjoyed Isabel Island the most of the three Islands we stayed at. Fantastic wildlife. The sunrises and sunsets, long beach walks, Los Tunnels Tour, bike rental, trails, tortoise natural reserve, plenty of shops for fresh fish and produce, plenty of restaurants with delicious food, panaderias with baked goods and early morning coffee. Awesome locals that were very friendly and helpful. Exceeded all our expectations.

We enjoyed traveling beyond Santa Cruz Island for a few nights, just to experience the "vibe" of a different island. The town of Puerto Villamil is relaxed, very friendly and a charming beach town. Most of the area is walkable, though taxis were very cheap (less than $5).

Isabela is a backpacker's destination with very poor...
Isabela is a backpacker's destination with very poor infrastructure and low level restaurants. And it's extremely expensive for a European, especially if you come from a non Euro-country given the appreciation of the USD. We struggled to find a decent restaurant and it turned out that the Mexican was the best (full every night). To give you an example of cost, a main course was between USD19-30 which in eg Spain would have been aprox USD8. Price/quality ratio is among the worst we've experienced.
Ecuador, especially the islands, is a cash only-no receipt-economy with the purpose of squeezing the last dollar out of the tourists. We left with few intentions of returning which is a shame given the amazing animals and nature. People are mostly very friendly and helpful which was a nice.

The laid-back beach town vibes here are so much different...
The laid-back beach town vibes here are so much different than Puerto Ayora and Puerto Baquerizo Moreno on the other islands. We loved the relaxing atmosphere and I wish we'd planned this stop toward the end of the trip instead of right at the beginning. Make sure you do a trip to Los Tuneles while you're there - the scenery is fantastic and it was the best snorkeling we had on our week in the islands.

Puerto Villamil is small but welcoming and very beautiful...
Puerto Villamil is small but welcoming and very beautiful with great opportunities for snorkeling, walking, biking, swimming, kayaking etc. Most restaurants seem to serve "pizza" for tourists, but it's possible to avoid that for more traditional and delicious fare. The local beer is good, the people are friendly and it's well worth the effort to visit. The wildlife is spread around the island, but you can experience an incredible variety in the near vicinity - flamingos, penguins, sea lions, manta rays, sea horses, turtles, tortoises, iguanas, lava lizards, blue-footed/nazca boobies and other incredible sea birds, sharks and colourful fishes, I can't wait to go back :)

Nice place, really relaxing.
Nice place, really relaxing. Not too many good options to go out for dinner and the nice restaurants are quite expensive. But this is the rule in Galapagos.
If you don't have much money, I would not recommend to stay many nights here, because the day trips are hugely expensive and there is not many free options otherwise staying in the central beach.

Located at the edge of main commercial area so easy walk to shops, food, laundry, tours
Breakfast of fruit, granola, toast, scrambled eggs, the freshly squeezed orange was delicious!
Room was basic, no wardrobe or tv. We had to leave our suitcases on the floor which was inconvenient.
Hotel provided beach towels, useful.
Hotel only had a few guests so was nice and quiet but layout would allow noise transfers from common areas if busy.
Price was high for standard of room. Glimpse of beach from some rooms
Nice clean place close to the water taxi dock. It's also close to the beach and a short walk to restaurants and tour companies in town. Enjoy breakfast at an outdoor table looking out at the beach and ocean. Breakfast was inexpensive and good ($10) - eggs, bread, fruit, yogurt, juice, coffee.
The walk from the dock to the hotel is relatively short, but the road is dirt. If you have wheeled and/or heavy luggage, it's really nice to pick up one of the many taxis at the dock. It only cost me $2.
By far our favourite hotel of all four that we stayed at on Galapagos! Friendly, helpful, welcoming reception staff that booked our tours of Isabela at a great price and were always there when we needed them.
The clean, comfortable, big room with a modern bathroom was a pleasure. The large breakfast offered some variety (unusual for Ecuador). The pool is a cool addition and nice to chill around.
Close enough to all the restaurants, the beach and the centre.
We really enjoyed our stay at Drake Inn! Carlos was very helpful and all the communication was smooth. The hotel had a really nice garden-area with beautiful flowers and the terrace had a nice beach view. The rooms were clean and the wifi worked great :) Other things that we really appriciated were the area were you could hang your bathing suits to dry and the free beach towels you could borrow.
We would absolutely recommend Drake Inn!
The hotel was simple but sufficient. It was close to the port and only about a 5-minute walk from the town center. There was a pretty good grill restaurant just behind the hotel. The towels were changed every day and the bed made up. There was a small fridge in the room. The neighborhood was quiet. The receptionist was friendly and helpful. There was a water dispenser to refill your bottle. The air-conditioner functioned well.
Hotel Albemarle is a great hotel and I can't recommend it enough. Tim the owner, a New Zealander, is a cool dude and the hotel staff is great and highly attentive. Juliette in particular helped me with every aspect of my trip, from booking dinners and activities as well as making me feel welcome as a solo traveler. I had a great time, and look forward to returning and exploring more of the Galapagos Islands :)
Owner, Carlos, greeted us warmly, giving lots of details about the hotel and location. He also got up at 5am to make sure our taxi to the ferry arrived! He accommodated us with an earlier breakfast time on our first morning as we had tour commitment to make. The property was well maintained inside and out.
It was a lovely stay. The hotel staff was very helpful and they always made an extra effort to help. The views from the top floor are amazing. They helped us organize all tours and we had lots of fun. Breakfast was great. Extremely close to the beach. Overall a great experience and is highly recommended.
Definitely the best place to stay in Puerto Villamil. One of the nicest helpful hosts that we’ve experienced and we travel full time for 7 years. clean, well located and the best hospitality. Book it and arrange your tours directly thru the host as she can get you the best prices and coordinate it all.
Eva and her team were very friendly and helpful. They gave us a lot of recommendations on where to go and what to do. The location of the hotel is amazing with a stunning view. You could feel that every detail was thought through, even the napkins in the restaurant were of high quality.
In the context of other beach properties on the Isabela Island the Cormorant Beach House represents really high standard of modern conditions, cleanses, and service. The location is breath taking as the hotel is literally on the sand beach.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. I left something at the hotel and they organised it to be sent to another island for me. They provided free snorkels and had reasonable bike rental. Would highly recommend a stay here!
Great location in Puerto Villamil; easy to walk everywhere. Lovely courtyard with tables and chairs. Quiet side street. Well-equipped kitchen. Welcome air conditioning. Welcome hot water shower. Helpful staff.
Amazing hotel/hostel in Isla Isabela. Great location, modern, very clean and helpful staff. Wilmer at reception in particular was really friendly and helpful - always going the extra mile!
Highly recommended!
Nice hotel on isabella with free drinking water. Host was very welcoming. Kitchen can be used by all. Also free washing of your clothes !! You can also book tours in the hotel.
very good room with direct access to the pool. the Pool is clean and refreshing. Very helpful staff, we could do an early check-in. Laguna with flamingos next to the hotel.
very nice hotel, I like the fruits serving for breakfast, and its perfect location. what impressed me most is the hotel looks like run entirely by very capable girls 👍
