On the picturesque harbour of St Mawes, with views of the Roseland Peninsula and beyond, The Rising Sun has an outdoor seating area, restaurant, bar and free Wi-Fi.

The rooms have en suite facilities with a bath, shower, free toiletries and hairdryer. They also feature a flat-screen TV with Freeview channels and tea/coffee making facilities. Some rooms have coastal views.

We came for a wedding in St. Mawes and couldn't have found a better location. It is right in the center of the quaint town, right above the restaurant, and had a beautiful view of the harbor. Even though it is above a restaurant, it has 4-star amenities. The staff are extremely warm and professional. Checkin took only a few minutes and we were shown our room. It was spacious—more like two rooms: a living room and a bedroom. The bed was the most comfortable one we stayed at on any trip (and we had some nice ones). The decor of the room was an ode to the history of the restaurant and St. Mawes, but it was tastefully done without being campy or kitschy. For the wedding, it was so convenient. After-dinner drinks with the wedding party took place at the pub. The next morning we walked next door to the ceremony. Breakfast every day was a wonderful indulgence. My only personal regret was a race the next week, so I couldn't really take part in the wide selection of beers and ciders. Finally—the people. Every interaction was wonderful. There was an awkward moment when I misunderstood when breakfast was over. The staff quickly made an exception and saved my appetite. For that, I'm forever in their debt. In the end, it absolutely exceeded expectations. I originally expected a tired, overprice, touristy venue. What I found was classy, comfortable, authentic, and welcoming. Bravo.

The location was great and the decor chic. Comfy beds. We had two rooms, and if we did not have our daughters’ room to compare, we’d be more impressed. The bathroom was huge and lovely. Fine dining at the restaurant for dinner was exceptional. Staff were mostly very nice and friendly. Loved the sitting room which was cosy and inviting. Having drinks on the terrace was fun. Car charging spaces were a nice touch.

Location was central Staff were friendly Good value for money We had to leave 1 day early due to family illness and the staff gave a full refund on the night we couldn't stay. So that says it all about how accommodating the staff are when unexpected issues affect your stay. We were very appreciative of the hotels willingness to help.

St Mawes is basically our idea of heaven, the location was everything. The hotel staff were lovely and friendly. The breakfast buffet spot on. The views incredible. The family room wasn't massive but big enough for the three of us.

Nearwater is ideally located just a short walk from St Mawes centre. Amelia and Tim were very welcoming and have a very beautiful home and garden. Breakfast was delicious with imaginative specials and tasty home made marmalade. The garden was a delight to explore and the communal breakfast table was sociable and good fun.
