The most generous and accommodating hosts ever. They gave us a room to practice in. (Musicians with a gig that night) and parking for the other band members. So generous. All of the staff are terrific. Espresso in the morning to take up to the room for my wife. The room is great. We come to Varese to play a couple of times a year and previously stayed at Albergo Crystal but this is much better.

The hotel is not in the centre, but there is a bus stop nearby. The staff is wonderful, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Great and varied breakfast, from cereal, walnuts and almonds, to fruit, eggs, cheese & meat and bread and sweet pastries and cakes. The hotel also has a restaurant on site for lunch and dinner. The drive up the mountain to the hotel is a little bit shaky because of the narrow road and hairpin turns, but that’s part of the charm. Situated in a small village atop Santa Maria del Monte whose main focal point is a magnificent UNESCO recognized church covered with frescoes, statues and mosaics. One can spend the day exploring the history, streets and alleys of the village. And the majestic views from the hotel are stunning! Now, the Hotel restaurant - simply amazing! We had an “eight thoughts of the chef” experience that featured eight separate courses of divine creativity , superb presentation, attentive service and exquisite dining. The meal was magnificent and could have been better ONLY if it had been warm enough to dine al fresco. The decision to stay here was spur of the moment, and it was truly the highlight of our journey. we highly recommend Hotel Colonne!
