Talek Bush Camp , Masai Mara

Talek

Located in Talek in the Narok region, Talek Bush Camp, Masai Mara features a balcony. Featuring a 24-hour front desk, this property also provides guests with an outdoor fireplace. There is a sun terrace and guests can make use of free WiFi and free private parking. Everything was perfect. The staff is really friendly, polite and caring for the guests. All staff, Simon, Willie, the chefs, Abdul and Mostafa. The location is the best you can get, the animals come to the river everyday: elephants, giraffes, warthogs, leopards, crocodiles and hyppos. You can even just rest at the hotel and see them all. They provide meals three times a day, with vegetarian options as well. They also pack the meals if you go for safari drives all day. They have fast WiFi in the common areas, which is very handy. People can also take videocalls there. The room was large, comfortable and very clean. The water is very hot in the shower. We will miss this place very much. Thank you Abdul & Mostafa for making us feel at home in every possible way.

Mara Intrepids Tented Camp 4 stars

Talek

Sitting on a shady raised platform facing the Talek river, each luxury tent covers approximately 26sqm and is fitted with a queen size bed or 2 twin beds. It is furnished in the classic style of the grand African safaris; with large four poster beds and reproduction furniture, offset by modern en-suite bathroom with a hot shower; flush toilets and all the necessary amenities. Finding the right accommodation in Masai Mara was a challenge, but after a thorough comparison of game drives, amenities, and services, Max Mara emerged as the best choice in terms of quality and price. I have never regretted opting for this hotel. Every member of the team, like Duncan, provided exceptional service, although I regret not remembering all their names. Situated just three minutes from Ol Kiombo airstrip, the hotel ensured seamless transportation, with our driver Samson attending to us from arrival to departure—an invaluable consistency throughout our stay. The culinary experience was outstanding, offering a diverse array of delicious meals. The tents were immaculate, complete with amenities and a constant water supply. Additionally, the morning gesture of serving tea, coffee, and biscuits on the terrace before breakfast was a delightful touch. The expansive resort boasts well-maintained gardens, often visited by friendly monkeys. However, what truly stood out were the exhilarating game drives. With Samson, an experienced driver of 18 years, at the helm, the journey was not only safe but also educational and enjoyable. His extensive knowledge of wildlife surpassed that of any textbook, and his ability to spot animals was uncanny. Despite my initial apprehension, Samson made me feel secure in his jeep, imparting valuable lessons about nature along the way. I am immensely grateful for this incredible adventure and for Samson's guidance throughout. Thank you for an unforgettable experience and to feel safe in your resort.

Enkusero Mara

Aitong

Located in Aitong, Enkusero Mara offers accommodation with seating area. This luxury tent provides free private parking, free shuttle service and free WiFi. Boasting family rooms, this property also provides guests with an outdoor fireplace. Enkusero is a small boutique camp, owned and run by William who is a local Masai, a passionate host and an excellent guide with15 years of experience. He took us for tailor- made safaris and went out of his way to show us the Big Five and countless other wonderful creatures. The location was fantastic and ideally located to visit the Masai Mara reserve. Our tent was luxurious and beautifully furnished . They had wooden decks with large verandas, for us to enjoy the sight of zebras, wildebeest and gazelles that grazed and freely roamed around the camp. The camp was exclusive and intimate in character with 3-4 luxury tents, perfect for one large or two small families. The food was par excellence . Robert is a fabulous chef who delighted in serving us exquisite dishes, most beautifully presented. We were quite apprehensive of food as we are vegetarians but it seemed no trouble for the skilled chef. The team, service and hospitality was superb. We took packed breakfast on most morning game drives. They were delicious and plentiful. I would like to make a special mention of the bush dinner with camp fire and lanterns which was really spectacular. William also organised sundowner drinks and it was simply humbling watching the sunset in the vast, peaceful setting of the Mara. We thoroughly enjoyed a visit to the traditional village of the Masai community, which William was happy to organise. To add to all this, the money spent at the camp directly benefits the local Masai community as it provides direct employment and there are no middlemen involved. We stayed 5 nights and each day was above all our expectations. Fantastic place where to stay if you want to be in the middle of wilderness and at the same time feel safe, special and be treated like royalty. Big Thank You to William and his team for making our stay so special and memorable.

Maji Moto Eco Camp

Maji Moto

Maji Moto Eco Camp is located at the foot of the little-known and spellbindingly beautiful Loita Hills. Off the beaten track, this is a perfect place to Experience real Maasai culture and African plains on foot. Great outdoors and a fun adventure for adults and kids. Your stay is inclusive of all-day guided activities like Nature walks, Warrior training, Local school visits, Wildlife tracking, Maasai homestead (Manyatta) visits, Beading, Firemaking and Campfire stories. Staying in the Camp was one of the best experiences in Kenya. We stayed there only for one night, but we learnt so much about Massai and felt extremely welcome. The staff showed us there world and guided us, so that we felt part of their home during a bush walk. We learnt the meaning of some of their dances and were shown the fire making without lighter. The food was good and original, but don’t expect a 5 course meal. It was simply good! For us as it was a must have while around the Mara.
