This family-run, newly renovated guesthouse is beautifully located in the idyllic town of Obertraun in the Salzkammergut region, only a few steps away from the shores of picturesque Lake Hallstatt.

The location is beautiful (especially if the room has a view towards the valley and opposing mountains) and easy to get to (I believe also by bus via the very nearby stop), but we arrived by car and had plenty of parking space; we were offered house slippers which gave a nice homey feel; the hosts were friendly and helpful; the room was clean and spacious; the bed was the most comfortable one we've slept in quite a while; there is ample lounging space within the house, with drinks and board games on offer; breakfast was tasty and quite varied (sufficient vegetarian options) given the small scale of the establishment; the price/value ratio is good; there's much to do in the surrounding area.

When we arrived, it was the off season. Most restaurants, shops, and hotels were closed. However, we were upgraded to a stay at Dormio Resort Obertraun and it was beautiful. Right by the lake. The food was also delicious and the staff helpful and friendly.
