Great location close to Freiburg, the Black Forest, Alsace region and Basel Switzerland as well the charming town of Staufen. The room was decorated lovely, with the reclaimed wood and the exposed stone. The host was friendly and helpful. We really liked the fact that they gave us a complimentary train ticket to use during our stay, which we used to take the train to Basel for the Christmas market. We definitely plan on staying here again in the summer to enjoy this wonderful region of Germany.

A big 10 for the Guesthouse Bärenbad. The hoste Frau Hauer is very friendly, the self check-in easy and the apartment very beautiful. Fully renovated, in a traditional guesthouse, very well equipped. Super good bed, small but convenient kitchen with all required utensils. Clean shower, small living room. Possibly to eat outside at the private courtyard. Space to store and charge the e-bike. The small town of Grunern is beautiful and perfect spot for hikes or bike trips into the Schwartzwald region. Not to forget: the small welcome bottle of white wine and the Konus Card (enabling you to travel for free with the train to e.g. Feiburg). We would definitely stay here again!

What a hidden gem! Cozy and warm, excellent breakfast, the nicest of owners and super comfortable beds! Speedy internet, 4 spa areas in the nearby, beautiful Xmas market in Freiburg, so much to do:) We only did not manage to eat in the restaurant of the hotel, what a pity. Excellent value for money, hope to come back one day!!

We really had an amazing stay at Gästehaus Sonnhalde (7 nights). Stephanie, the host made us feel incredibly welcome. We enjoyed the conversations we had with her and the many tips she gave us about the beautiful region. The rooms are large and comfortable. The terrace we had was also large, had a stunning view on the valley and mountains, and provided plenty of shade on hot days (or cover on rainy ones). We found ourselves spending a lot of time on this terrace, resting after a great day of hiking :). Also during our stay the rooms were really taken care of. We noticed that our beds were made daily, bins were emptied, windows were opened, towels changed, etc. Again, this gave us a welcome feeling. Breakfast was fantastic, and there was variation every day.

The view from the bedroom terrace was very relaxing. I was surprised by the amount of toiletries and small necessities the bathroom had. The room was very quiet and cozy and room temperature was easily adjustable with excellent energy saving thermostat. I loved the breakfast that had a lot of choices for a healthy and tasty start of my day. Oh yeah...Marie Schwartzwald robot is so much fun and excellent addition to the busy team.

The hotel is uphill on the outskirts of town, which allows for great views. Lots of space in the room, including in cupboards. Bathroom and breakfast were impeccable and our hosts were friendly and professional. Eating at the restaurant in the evening allowed us to appreciate the nice and original meals provided by the chef.
