Near the beautiful River Eden, in the ancient town of Appleby in Westmorland, this traditional 17th century coaching inn offers free Wi-Fi and en suite rooms.
Each room has a flat-screen TV with free view channels. All rooms (excluding the Cottage) have free Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi is available in the public areas. There is also a charming 2-bedroom stone cottage ideal for families or groups of friends.

We were most concerned that the dog could fit in to the hotel environment while allowing us to relax. The staff were fantastic with him as soon as we arrived, put us at ease and enabled us to enjoy a fantastic meal (real ale a plus). The room had a door directly into the garden which meant that the dog could be let out as required. We will very likely stay here again if we pass this way. The town of Appleby also has nice walks along the river so we had a pleasant evening walk to finish.

We have nine en-suite guest rooms with king-size or twin beds. Each spacious bedroom has plenty of space for an additional 'rollaway bed' if required. New soft furnishings, lighting and decor, and highly comfortable Sealy beds ensure you feel entirely at home during your stay.

The staff were so welcoming and friendly they made our holiday very enjoyable. The food was excellent with very good choice and beautifully presented.

The host was very good in pre visit instructions and was on hand, if needed. (We didn't)

The house is very well equipped with cooking utensils, pans, oven, slow cooker, plates, glasses and cutlery. The beds are extremely comfortable and the neighbourhood is very quiet, which made for a very welcomed good nights' sleep, after a long walk. The house is dog friendly, so took my small companion - to note, dogs are not allowed on the bed and sofa, probably a reason as to why the house looks very new, clean and fresh.

Lovely hosts, very friendly and good local knowledge. Breakfast was good with well cooked ingredients. Maybe more fresh fruit and some pastries? Plenty of coffee and juice. Good value.
