Breakfast at the Grasmere Brewery was lovely. I actually liked walking down the street from the cottage for breakfast. We loved Grasmere - the winding streets, the surrounding hills, the shops. I had chosen Grasmere as a place to stay because we wanted to spend a couple of days in the Lake District and I had read that it was one of the prettiest towns. It was exactly what we hoped for. Richard, the proprietor of Lake View Country House, was so nice and helpful in every way. He made us feel comfortable, welcome, and gave us a fantastic recommendation for a day hike near the house, and for restaurants.

The staff were really friendly and welcoming. Particularly the female host on Saturday who welcomed us was super helpful throughout our stay. Breakfast was great both days and the high tea that was included was a nice touch. The area was lovely and it was a short walk to the sister hotel to use the spa facilities. The hotel itself was very clean and quaint. The outside seating areas were lovely and peaceful.

Quiet and 100yds off the Main Street, perfect for walking high or low around Grasmere and beyond. Stayed in the Penthouse, top floor with a private outside terrace which is nearly as big as the room… great for the dog and if we had had better weather, for us too! Plenty of parking, Richard was on hand twice when we needed a hand… forgotten phone charger and then jump leads for the car!!! Nothing was too much trouble, great host.

Excellent hostel. Everything was extremely clean, common spaces (2 self-catering kitchens, lounge) were great. Plenty of shared toilets/showers. Beds and pillows are very comfortable. It was very quiet during my stay. The staff were very friendly and gave good tips for hiking paths. Great location. I cannot recommend it enough.
