The place was just fantastic. I cannot recommend it further. The staff members were super friendly and helpful. They even offered a free karada-bar class (a relaxation and stretching session), which felt amazing after a long hike. The onsen was perfect, and the cubicles were very nice too!. You have everything you need. They offer excellent dinners upon request - and you can even buy snacks, drinks and ready-made meals at reception, so you don't have to carry all your supplies at once with you when you go hiking.

Everything about this place is great. The owner is very friendly, welcoming and helpful. We met him at his nearby yakitori restaurant (which is also amazing) and he took us to the house. Such a peaceful place as you have the entire house to yourself. There is a kotatsu for warming yourself up if its cold, lovely areas to sit inside/outside and watch the birds, lots of space, clean and comfortable bedding, and the building itself is lovely. The owner also gave us discount vouchers to an onsen a short walk away which was incredible.

Very comfortable stay. Hostess was very kind and went out of the way to help. I had a stress fracture and could not walk up the stairs and all the downstair rooms were occupied so she arranged a cozy bed for me in the living room which was fantastic. Very cozy spot on the river bank. Ease of access to kumano kodo trail. We did the Hongu loop trail leaving from here, hiking to Hongu-taisha, then bus to Yunomine Onsen, and then hike the rest of the loop from there. Awesome experience!
