This is our 2nd time went to Amed, and staying at Stairway to Heaven made us LOVE Amed more than ever! Keep in mind that this hotel is on top of the cliff. Most hotels in Amed would have a lobby in front of the road, but this isn't the case, when we first arrived you would just see a parking area (enough for 3 cars and plenty of bikes), and you would find a gate with a staircase going down. About 20s stair steps later, you would see the lobby on the right side, along with the restaurant where you would have breakfast/lunch/dinner. To go to your room, you would have to go down farther, about 40-50 stair more steps right down to the garden area and the beach, and it was an AMAZING beach! Room: Yes you guessed it, to go to your room, you would have to take another 30 stair steps, but it's BEAUTIFUL VIEW from your room! It's spacious inside, and for our case the patio has a bed where you can chill and watch the sunrise/sunsets. When we went in June, Sunrise is right in front of our room, I woke up at 4am just to wait for the sunrise and it was the most tranquilizing moment I've had for a long time. Bathroom is semi-outdoor on the shower area, but also spacious and clean. There's a small fridge in the room, and plenty of towels were provided for our 2 nights stay. The water would come from Aqua 5 gallon bottle with a manual pump so you can have a bit of workout when pumping for water lol. Garden: Our dogs loved it! Spacious garden, we always see the hotel employees every morning taking care of the garden area, it's clean no crazy spider webs, etc. There are some limited amount of sun beds and table also on the garden area, but we don't see too many guests are using it (as most of them gone snorkeling instead) Beach: Very great for Snorkeling! White sand beach (in which is kinda rare I would think in Amed, because in the city center it was all black sand beach due to the volcano), but this tells you there are...

Everything in this stay is perfect!! We had a room with pool and ocean view. The pool is really cool, and they have several places for you to lay beneath it. And, as mentioned in other reviews, the access to the beach could not be more direct! They let you borrow snorkeling equipment (yes, for free!), and doing it right in the beach is amazing! We saw so many different fishes, including a turtle! The breakfast is very good, and they give you the option to take it (and any other meal) in the restaurant, in the pool or in the room. The staff is incredibly kind and helpful! This was an amazing stay, and we regretted not staying longer!

The authentic Balinese inspired villas with stylish open bathrooms, pristine pool, restaurant and nature landscape speak of a well managed architectural understanding of local culture and spirit. The location is right at the beach and traditional fishing can be observed daily when the boats return from their trip with nets full of mackerels. We bought some direct from the fisherfolks and the restaurant staff fried them for our breakfast. Right in front of the property is a shallow reef with almost 100% coral cover. They provide living space for a high diversity of reef fish species. We spotted lots of damsels, surgeonfish, fusiliers, anthias, angelfish, pairs of butterfly fish, needle fish, puffer fish, triggerfish of all sizes, squid, stingrays, turtles and even nurse sharks. Particularly for children it’s s perfect snorkeling site since the reefs are at a shallow depth of 1-2m depending on the tides. Water temperatures are at 29-30 degrees Celsius which are quite comfortable without wetsuit. However, a t-shirt against sun radiation is strongly recommended.

The location is the absolute best! You are right on the beach and can go snorkeling to see a bunch of fish and even turtles. Waking up and overlooking the ocean was just fabulous. The rooms are simple but clean and have everything you need. Wifi and air-conditioning worked well. They offer scooter rentals and have a small dive shop as well. You get a nice but simple breakfast every morning and the communication with staff was always nice, helpful and easy. It's really good value for money! I recommend taking one of the sea view rooms!

Got upgraded to the deluxe suite room with an ocean view and view of the stunning black sand beach. The room was beautiful, clean, modern, and comfortable. The owner and staff were very friendly and welcoming!

The location was pleasant. The beach was great. The room was beautifully presented. Definitely recommend if you are wanting a nice quiet relaxing place to stay when in Bali. Location was good, plenty of places to eat and drink. I would recommend eating at Sama Sama Amed's restaurant as opposed to others. The food is delicious, the staff are great and of course its part of the hotel albeit across the road for the actual appartments.

Fantastic location on beach with a relaxing, private atmosphere. Bungalows are so sweet and comfortable. Grounds are impeccable and staff are so friendly and helpful.
