The property is her old family home and has a genuine Spanish appeal with a combination of wood and tile providing a very warm atmosphere. Guests have the full use of the kitchen to prepare their own meals and a dedicated shelf in her fridge. The bedroom was comfortable with a separate entrance to a front patio overlooking lush landscaping. The property has a solid wooden door at the front proving excellent security. Berna has a deep concern for her guests. I was a bit late coming home one evening and she messaged me to make sure I was OK. Fantastic vale for the quality that Casas Irazu offers guests. We stayed in the tent and it was a fantastic experience, very comfortable and equipped with all you need (strong lights, a powerbank, wifi, safety deposit box, coffee maker with their own coffee,...). The property is easy to reach and was a perfect stop on our way from the carribbean coast to Quetzales Nationalpark. The tent is very quiet and you have an amazing view from there. Alfonso, the owner is very friendly and gave us many information how to best enjoy his hugh Finca. There are a lot of things to do and see and it would make sense to stay for a couple of nights. We spotted many nice birds from the tent and by walking around and also went to their pont at night which was a unique experience. Also the giant swing was really fun!

We liked walking proximity to Cartago city center, kitchen availability, the garage to safely park the car, private bathroom. Mauricio and his brother were very hospitable having provided information about places of interest and catering nearby, addressing our needs, serving simple breakfast, sharing water bottles and tea. Thanks a lot to Mauricio who informed me of a need to reserve the Volcano area entrance tickets online otherwise we'd have to do it at the top of the mountain with limited Internet connection potentially facing tickets have been sold out.
