I had an excellent stay at Refugio Terra Esperanza. Emerson was so helpful in answering all my questions. Excellent services. He cooked me breakfast for $3 and helped me call a taxi to Cumbre Imbabura (which I highly recommend). The place itself is rustic, but charming and cozy. It has great views of Imbabura and Cayambe, so definitely try to wake up early for that. Overall, I would highly recommend this refugio to anyone traveling here. All our rooms have a private bathroom and a balcony with a view of the lake.. There is a TV as well. The owners are wonderful people. The facility is very clean and if you ask for anything, they are quick to respond and help. The breakfast was great, and way more than we were expecting. The freshly made juices were great. We had 3 rooms and they all had very pretty views of the mountains and lake. There were chairs on the balcony along with the electric kettle to make coffee in the morning. I highly recommend staying here if your visiting Otavalo. Stay for a few days of relaxation.
