The host was really kind, he made conversation with me even though I speak little japanese and recommended a few spots around the area to visit. Both the house and the share rooms were more spacious than I expected, and I also got a couple of free tram tickets with my stay. Great experience.

Free breakfast is provided as well for all guests from 6:30am so this is a great help for those wishing to do the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route. The breakfast selection, even though not expansive, is nice and tastes great. There is also video-on-demand service that has plenty of movies and TV shows (and also adult content) that you could buy through the front desk, or through your smartphone if you have one of Japan's QR code payment app.

The property seemed to be a backpackers hostel back in the day, it was nice to see the little notes left by earlier travellers! The staff sends across a PDF document with lots of info and recommendations which is helpful - a tiny feedback to update it as it states that breakfast is provided (it is not).

The beds were much bigger than any hostel I’ve been in before (tall enough to stand up in!) and each had its own safe box and storage space. The facilities (kitchen, toilets, lounge areas) were clean and comfortable, and there were small towels that you could use for free or bigger ones for rent.
