With free WiFi and free parking, Keswick Museum and Art Gallery and Cumberland Pencil Museum are also less than a mile away. The location was beautiful! It was across the street from the Greta River and right beside the old rail line that is now a walk/run/bike trail. It is a 5-10 minute walk into the centre of town and just over 10 minutes to Derwent Lake. My bed was in the annex with the main building with all the kitchen/dining area/common room in the neighbour building about 5 metres away. I loved everything!
Thirlmere
Located in Thirlmere, Fisher-gill Camping Barn offers free onsite parking and a terrace. Set within the Lake District National Park, the hostel is at the foot of the Helvellyn Mountains and just 5 miles from Keswick. I had the most wonderful time here! The surrounding area is gorgeous, and coming back to a crackling woodfire and a hot water bottle after having been out on a hike is the perfect end to a day spent exploring! The owner was very kind and helpful, and the camping barn had everything I could have asked for (and more!): a hot shower (coin operated, 1 pound gets you 50' of hot water), maps of the area, comfortable beds, a fireplace and some wood already prepared, fully equipped kitchen, and even hot water bottles!

Great location and easy to access. The place is modest, but fully functional. Well-suited if you are on a bit of a budget and want to use your accommodation as a base to explore the region. Very comfortable double-bed with a fantastic mattress and duvet and good heating system. Pet friendly.
Very clean and comfortable. Good value for money. Great location between Bowness and Windermere shops, pubs, and restaurants. Easy access with keysafe. Martin was a helpful host with information on the local area we asked for as we have not stayed in Windermere before.
Great location if you want to be in walking distance of everything in Bowness (steep access to the hotel so not for those with mobility issues). We had a family room in the building over the road from the hotel - Oak House with two singles pushed together and large bunk beds for the kids. Large size bathroom. The rooms were clean. The beds were comfy. Polite and professional staff.
It was in a great location, close enough to the Lakes and the town, restaurants, take aways etc. The accommodation was clean, breakfast was good and the bed was very comfortable. The rooms are not as sound proof as I would have liked. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Perfect location. Short easy walk into the town centre. Wasn't expecting the hostel to be as nice as it was. Although shared, there were plentiful bathroom facilities that were clean and close to the room. There was a lovely big kitchen for all to share and cook their own food. Moving around the hostel was safe and you needed a key card to enter the floors. Overall, it was basic but well equipped and great value for money!
Best budget hostel you could get. The location is amazing surrounded by mountains with a stream running in front. They've in house restaurant serving great food. Room size is decent.
Great location and very clean and safe
Cheap and cheerful. Good facilities for a bargain hostelry. Have stayed before and will return over winter. Great location for Park Run and walk up Skiddaw
Great value for money. Our room was a really good size for a family of four with a double and bunk bed for our two boys the mattresses were comfortable. The whole hotel was spotlessly clean with a modern feel, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Great location for exploring the North lakes on a budget and only 12 minutes drive away from Keswick.
Good value stay. The staff were friendly and efficient. I was slightly apprehensive about how the stay would be in Covid times but all was good and clean with safety measures in place. Great location for walking. My only negative point would be would be the lack of packed lunches, or just a simple sandwich would have been great. I know the hostel used to provide this service. Apart from that our stay was most enjoyable.
