Located in the market town of Keswick in the heart of the Lake District National Park, Denton House Hostel is just a 5-minute stroll from Keswick Leisure Centre. With free WiFi and free parking, Keswick Museum and Art Gallery and Cumberland Pencil Museum are also less than a mile away. The location was beautiful! It was across the street from the Greta River and right beside the old rail line that is now a walk/run/bike trail. It is a 5-10 minute walk into the centre of town and just over 10 minutes to Derwent Lake. My bed was in the annex with the main building with all the kitchen/dining area/common room in the neighbour building about 5 metres away. I loved everything!
Thirlmere
Located in Thirlmere, Fisher-gill Camping Barn offers free onsite parking and a terrace. Set within the Lake District National Park, the hostel is at the foot of the Helvellyn Mountains and just 5 miles from Keswick. I had the most wonderful time here! The surrounding area is gorgeous, and coming back to a crackling woodfire and a hot water bottle after having been out on a hike is the perfect end to a day spent exploring! The owner was very kind and helpful, and the camping barn had everything I could have asked for (and more!): a hot shower (coin operated, 1 pound gets you 50' of hot water), maps of the area, comfortable beds, a fireplace and some wood already prepared, fully equipped kitchen, and even hot water bottles!
Glenridding
Situated in the Cumbrian countryside, conveniently located to visit the Lake District, YHA Helvellyn has on-site free parking and a bar. The nearest village, Glenridding, is a 6-minute drive from the hostel. I emailed saying that we might be late for check in due to traffic. The manager replied promptly and tried to help me if the other YHA branch in Ambleside have an availability. However, there were no availabilities so we did our best to arrive on time. At exactly 10pm, we arrived on the post code but it was not the right place. There were some signal issues but in the end, the manager met us and directed us where to go and checked us in even after 10pm. For this, we are very grateful. 😊

Great location and easy to access. The place is modest, but fully functional. Well-suited if you are on a bit of a budget and want to use your accommodation as a base to explore the region. Very comfortable double-bed with a fantastic mattress and duvet and good heating system. Pet friendly.
Great location, centrally located in Bowness. Parking nearby. Very helpful host who responded fast. Collected keys from coded key safe outside apartment, very efficient. Apartment cosey and clean!
• Great location • Super friendly staff • Yummy food • Lots of breakfast options • Cheap price
Great location between Keswick and Windermere. There’s plenty of parking and the staff member I met was welcoming, friendly and helpful. I only stayed one night on a work trip, the lodge provided a warm and comfortable stopover. I didn’t book breakfast as I’m happy with a cup of tea first thing. Best thing was the big lovely white towels! My room was cheap and only had a velux window so no view unless you stood on the bed.
Cheap and clean. Great location. Good value for money.
GREAT LOCATION, CLOSE TO EVERYTHING, WE LOVE BOWNESS! STAYED 2 NIGHTS, PERFECT LITTLE BREAK, BUSES ARE CHEAP £2 TO AMBLESIDE. THERES NOT MUCH FREE PARKING IN BOWNESS, WE PAID £19.80 FOR 3 DAYS WHICH I THOUGHT WAS OK. WILL DEFINATLEY COME AGAIN, THANKS NICK. P.S. HEATING IN ROOM 6 BATHROOM NEEDS SORTING BUT NICK CAME WITH A FAN HEATER AND WAS OK. THANKS AGAIN.
Great location, just off M6. 30 mins away from Windermere & other tourist locations. No frills, clean, cheap hotel with pets allowed.
Cheap and cheerful. Good facilities for a bargain hostelry. Have stayed before and will return over winter. Great location for Park Run and walk up Skiddaw
Great value for money. Our room was a really good size for a family of four with a double and bunk bed for our two boys the mattresses were comfortable. The whole hotel was spotlessly clean with a modern feel, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Great location for exploring the North lakes on a budget and only 12 minutes drive away from Keswick.
Good value stay. The staff were friendly and efficient. I was slightly apprehensive about how the stay would be in Covid times but all was good and clean with safety measures in place. Great location for walking. My only negative point would be would be the lack of packed lunches, or just a simple sandwich would have been great. I know the hostel used to provide this service. Apart from that our stay was most enjoyable.
