The staff was multinational, very friendly and helpful, providing tips for trips and good restaurants for dinner, welcoming even our dog. The location is great, super close to one of the cable car stations in Tauplitz up to the 6-lakes hiking path. Close to several other lakes and hiking routes. Having it’s own parking lot was great when arriving at night. The room was dog-friendly, with a nice terrace and its own bathroom. Due to COVID, there was no room service but a “cleaning point” on the first floor where one could change towels and get rid of the dirty ones, rubbish bins always taken care of not to be full, new bags to our baskets.

Situated in the idyllic mountain village of Tauplitz in the Styrian Salzkammergut, the Hotel Pension Sonnenuhr is an ideal starting point for mountain bikers and hikers in summer, and for skiers and cross-country skiers in winter. The hotel is right next to the ski slope and only about 50 metres away from the valley station of the 4-seated chair lift taking you up to the Tauplitzalm mountain pasture, at 1,600 metres above sea level. The Hotel Sonnenuhr offers a beautiful panoramic view of the Grimming, one of Europe’s biggest isolated mountains. All rooms have breathtaking views of the surrounding nature. Hotel facilities include a sauna, a cosy hotel bar, an Internet corner, a children’s playroom and a library. With warm summers and snow-sure winters, Tauplitz is the perfect destination for nature lovers throughout the year.
