Pros
- The beaches would be among the best in the world.
- Greenery
- Nature attractions/urban wildlife
- Improvements on waterfront world class
- Beach walkway from Town to Lighthouse beach amazing.
Cons
- Roads are simply appalling in many places, just pothole covers holding hands and a should be a real embarrassment to local council, though looks in places they have started fixing the problem
- High elderly and low socio-economic population, kind of depressing local population
- Population/development explosion, high rents and tariffs
- Lots of hoons and bogans, exercise vigilance late at night
- Increasingly visible homeless problem
- Town is over promoted and exploited, certainly not a place to "get away from it all" anymore, its got plenty of what you came to escape, best to come outside of public and school holidays, always some pesky "festival" or event going on blocking roads and causing chaos
- Not a quaint fishing/holiday destination anymore
- If you strike a "Red Weed" season on your holiday, any beach-river activities are ruined.
-Service in most establishments is terrible

Happy and helpful staff at motel and EI restaurant.
Happy and helpful staff at motel and EI restaurant. The comfiest bed 🫠 you could ask for and walking distance to river, beach, restaurants and shopping centre. Given Free coffees upon book in for breakfast was a lovely bonus. 😊
Only disappointment was upgraded to balcony for the treat of the view of the river as shown in picture. We had a view of a car park. 😟

The Bowling Club was located at the back of the apartment building and only a short stroll away. Perfect place for dinner. Also love the restaurant at Westport for dinner. We have been there numerous times and never disappointed.
We have stayed in PM numerous times and always love coming back. Great accommodation, walks, beach and cafes. The Sea Acres Rainforest is definitely worth a visit and the food at the Cafe is lovely.

Nice Getaway.
Nice Getaway.
You can do Jet Ski at $240 per hour, and can swap drivers.
Sea Plane ride was good, but not comfortable.
Book a day in advance else you have to come back next day.
One thing is food is expensive in the place.

Vibrant town centre with lots of restaurants and harbour/ estuary views. Great beaches and walks up to the lighthouse at Tacking Point. Must-do staging point if travelling by car between Brisbane and Sydney. Glad we stayed 2 nights rather than 1.

Parking in the centre of Port Macquarie was in very short supply.
Bikes being ridden on the breakwater path was dangerous.
The gentleman cleaning tables and seats on the boardwalk is doing a great and friendly service for the tourists.
This motel was exceptionally clean, but it was also very pretty. The room was well decorated and the grounds were really well kept with a cute BBQ area and sitting area. Very quiet so we had a restful sleep. We went into Port Macquarie for dinner, but we went back into town in the morning to walk along the waterfront before heading North. Port Macquarie is a very pretty and friendly town.
The cheap buffet breakfast was exceptional, the cleaners and staff were lovely, very friendly and helpful. They maintained our room daily which made our stay wonderful.
Rydges is in the heart of Port Macq and prime location to everything. I will definitely be returning.
The heated pool and spa was the best and it’s open til late for a nice relaxing swim before bed.
Shelley Beach Resort was perfect for our family vacation. Great facilities... pool, spa, games room& tennis court onsite to keep kids occupied. The staff were so friendly & accommodating. The apartments were clean & comfortable & we had our own parking spot next to the apartment. We had a wonderful time & will definitely stay here again.
Very friendly and helpful receptionist at check-in, providing info. about Port Macquarie and booking a taxi to take me back to the coach station very early in the morning. Quite reliable. The WiFi in the room worked very well, quite fast and the kitchenette supplies in the room were good.
Lovely hotel, I loved the room layout and my view was very nice, I didn't have a full ocean front view but I watched the sunset everyday which was very nice. Bed was very comfy. Location was perfect so I didn't have to drive just to get down to the main town shops and waterfront.
Location was great. We were only doing an overnighter and can't see this place as being suitable for long stays. When booking we had a choice of this being the cheapest or the more expensive places as there wasn't much available.
Great position in Port Macquarie . A quiet hotel with good facilities and anything you need is close. Room is spacious and kitchen facilities were very good. Great place for a 5 night stay.
beautiful hotel with spacious room, comfortable beds, lovely view. great pool area overlooking the river. nice restaurant on site for breakfast and dinner. staff were lovely and helpful.
Awesome location! property maintained very well. Apartments are large enough and clean. Pools are heated and cleaned everyday. Staff is friendly. Overall very good experience.
The hotel is situated in one of the most beautiful sites in Port Macquarie. Restaurant is excellent; as is the staff. We had a river view room & the view was magnificent
The location is so convenient. The staff in all positions were extremely friendly (the best we've experienced for some time). Parking was cheap. Great hotel.
