The 5th largest city of Brazil couldn’t be less than its bigger sisters. With beautiful beaches facing the Atlantic Ocean and a well-known party atmosphere, Fortaleza is one the preferred touristic destinations for both Brazilians and foreigners. Amazing city but get a tour guide, our guide Milton knew all about this town. You must visit beaches with hour away, don't go over two hours drive because roads are nit very comfortable. Thai is why I do recommend a tour guide like Milton.

Nothing interesting to justify a stay. We had been robbed the mobile phone in the first 2 hours of our arrival, in a quiet and modern city mall. The beaches are nothing special, the sea difficult to enter due to the many rocks right at the bottom Just stay the minimum you need and head for better places. It's a huge city and tourism has not recovered to pre-epidemic levels. The grates, tall walls, electric fences and graffiti alert you to potential trouble. The beaches are fabulous and the night life active, but tourists should take common sense precautions. The evening artisan fair on the city beach is a must visit.

The location is close to the beach and some other interesting places (like Mercado Central).

Interestingly enough their barraca (basically a giant area covered with beach huts where they serve foods and drinks) is a bit further away on the beach, but definitely worth a visit. The breakfast was really delicious with a wide variety of choices, and the champagne was a nice extra touch.
