I travel to Sault Saint Marie for work every 2 weeks.

I travel to Sault Saint Marie for work every 2 weeks. It's got everything one would need when staying there....plenty of decent hotels, eateries and shopping areas. Sault Saint Marie is a town you pass through heading west, or heading east from Manitoba, through Ontario, or to Sault, Michigan.

We were here for fall train trip and it was nice. Not needed again though. We went to a different place for every lunch and dinner. We had 2 serving staff that weren’t of a spicy attitude. The other 2 were nice and friendly. The food was fair but nothing that was amazing. I won’t go to the Sault again. Very pretty area though!

We went for fall foliage and were not disappointed- it was gorgeous! Hike Robertson Cliffs! We also did the Agawa Canyon Train and, hmm. We had hoped for a spectacular train ride, and it wasn't. The canyon itself is gorgeous, but you get 1 1/2 hours there which isn't much considering the train ride is 8 hours r/t. Most of the other passengers were elderly though so it seemed about right for the less mobile. We enjoyed the canal site and all the historical markers, but unfortunately went on Sunday and discovered the visitor center is closed on weekends. Huh? The seaplane museum was open and fascinating.

I went to see my friends and that alone was priceless. I went on the Agawa train to the canyon and it was just amazing stunning. The boardwalk along the river was beautiful. No police in Sault Ste Marie?

No police in Sault Ste Marie? People were drag racing up and down the Main Street in front of hotel all night. Hotel was dated and shabby but clean. For the price it wasn’t good value at all. I’ve paid similar rates at hotels that were well kept and updated. It was clean and staff were nice though.

We drove north of Sault Ste Marie along Lake Superior.

We drove north of Sault Ste Marie along Lake Superior. Absolutely beautiful. We drove up to see the pictographs but I was not able to complete the hike as it was pretty rugged. But my husband did and he got some fabulous photos. Luckily he did not go swimming due to the wet, narrow ledge.

Very clean and comfortable hotel conveniently located for an overnight stay if you are travelling through the area by car and need to get some rest. The staff is friendly and helpful and there are many restaurants and places to shop close by. The room is well laid out but a bit small as is the case at other Microtel hotels I have stayed at. The bed was very comfortable and my room was quiet and clean. There was a better than expected variety of items that were available at breakfast.

We stopped here on the way back from a road trip around Lake Superior. The location was very convenient - right on the way out of the city. Although it was along a major road, the room was very quiet. The room was very clean and the bed very comfortable. There was even a small table with chairs to eat at. I would highly recommend this place and will plan to stay here on our next road trip to Northern Ontario!

We drove past the hotel. There was not great signage or lighting. The staff was great, but the room was very cramped, the bathroom door was broken, beds were comfy but no blankets. We had to bring one in from our camping stuff. It advertised breakfast. But it was a “bagged” breakfast. Quite expensive for what we got.

We've stayed two days. Holiday Inn Express is located in downtown, very convenient to access Agawa canyon tour train station, Station mall, Sault Ste. Marie board walk, art gallery, etc. We felt low frequency sound when we got in our room, and told hotel staff about this, she changed a quiet room for us very quickly.
