Though our room was facing the pedestrian walkway, the double glazed window blocked off all the street noises. The staff were super helpful with our needs and also gave us alot of tips of food options and they were really worth the effort to find and try.

I liked the help and interaction with the lobby staff and also the staff who assisted me at breakfast answering all my questions and were absolutely professional and lovely people to be associated with. I would like to highlight Vivien at the front desk and Ding Juan who were both extremely helpful and made my stay so much more enjoyable.

stayed at ancient town, very convenient for food. But bear in mind cars not allowed in ancient town, accommodation send luggage carts. Communication in chinese important as they meet you somewhere at the entrance and bring you in with your luggages. No breakfast where I stayed but as early as 7am, shops for breakfast are opened. Need local sim card to get around by Didi. Need an app in english but couldn't get translation. Thankfully spouse could read chinese, did all the ride hailing and maps in chinese. If there was an app in English, would help non speaking/reading chinese. Suggest use a reputable tour company for private tours and plan everything if you can't use mandarin.

Mostly everything was good!...
Mostly everything was good!... I agree it's a five star hotel. What it wasn't so great is that the staff in general doesn't show to be HAPPY!... It's unusual to see SMILES!!!... Also, there's some mosquitos and a few flies around. Hahaha...

It's a laid back city.
It's a laid back city. Slower pace than the other metropolises. I went in May and the weather was beautiful. It's a walkable city but I highly recommend using the Chinese APPs to rent e-bikes. It's the best way to see the city. That's pretty much what I did for my four days there. For local restaurants, get some good recommendations from the staff where you are staying. If you want some good Western food, Salvador's is a good option. Also, Wooden Paradise a good cocktail bar with cheap happy hour deals and a friendly owner. Juan'er is a great cafe that uses Yunnan beans. I didn't visit any special sights, except for Green Park, which is your standard big city park, so I can't comment on them.

Kunming is a non-touristy town that people often pass through. This is such a pity because we were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful parks, the calm atmosphere of the locals playing cards and games, the cute cafes, and the interesting restaurants. Kunming has everything you need but it is toned down compared to other Chinese cities which is what we wanted as we live in Guangzhou. Salvador’s restaurant is a must visit as is Humdinger for a local craft beer. Did I mention that the weather is perfect? It is known for being a city of ‘eternal spring’ for its gorgeous weather.

Unfortunately, my stay was only for one night (layover). My wife told me Kunming was an exceptionally pleasant and scenic place to be, and from what I saw from my limited time on the ground and the from the plane's window, it looks it. I am definitely going back!

Kunming in the middle of winter was a great place to visit.
Kunming in the middle of winter was a great place to visit. Days were sunny and mainly dry. Lots if interesting places to visit in and around the city. Western Hill is only a RMB4 subway ride from the city centre and an excellent place to spend a day. Nationalities village is a good place to understand the culture of the different ethnic groups. The Stone Forest and nearby caves is a gret place for a day trip. Further afield is the Dongchuan red land and the Jiaozi Snow Mountain. There are a good range of halal restaurants in the city.
The hotel is housed in a historic 1944 building built with the Americans as a celebration of success in WW2. Art Deco style. The decor and style of the rooms is attractive. The building is very safe and sturdy, build for war time. The hotel is next to the old town in central Kunming. We arrived at around 4 am and called the hotel. The owner was cheerful and called to wake the receptionist for a smooth check-in. When we found the room too hot, the hotel allowed us to shorten our stay without charge. Nice views from every room.
Truly excellent customer service. We needed to get a Covid test after we arrived which was made more difficult as the Code would not accept a foreigner's passport name and number. King Chen accompanied us to the hospital to guide us through the process and made it a stress free experience. Nothing was too much trouble. Thanks King Chen :). The hotel itself was very nicely situated and quiet and the rooms were comfortable and nicely decorated. The breakfast also suited our British taste. I highly recommend this hotel.
The breakfast was good but lacked as many options as their central hotel for Home Inn. It is a nice attempt at the price. The rooms were large & comfortable with great air con. They also had a good laundry room for free. Lovely view over Kunming from the room. I saw a really low review and it is just extremely unfair, This is a good hotel to stay in Kunming, and not so pricey. I have lived in Kunming for several years and this is a great option at 45 GBP a night with breakfast and good service. It is a solid 8.
This hotel is in an iconic heritage building, but has been beautifully renovated with very spacious, quiet and comfortable rooms. It is right across the street from the Wenming Street ancient city area, with lots of interesting shops, bars, coffee shops and restaurants - can definitely fill a morning wandering around. The receptionist did not speak English, but he quickly called the manager and she was helpful. She even walked us down the street to a great local restaurants and helped us order.
The design is so luxurious and modern. I love that our room had a good view of the pool. Breakfast was so delicious! What you see in the photos is exactly how it looks in real life. It really is beautiful and modern, with a nice view. It’s located in a village area, so you can have a nice morning stroll around the village with many beautiful views. The staff were helpful and arranged a last-minute free airport pickup for our arrival. They offer free airport pickup and drop-off.
It's a comfortable and cosy little establishment run by a father and son team. Clean rooms, friendly hosts, and essential amenities are all within (very) short walking distances. It's situated within a tranquil town that feels essentially geared towards transit travellers, so if you have >24 hours to burn and you need to unwind and relax, this is 20 mins away from Chang Shui, and the team is ready to facilitate your to and forth airport transfers.
The hotel is awesome, the staff was very welcoming and friendly. Authentic and modern hotel which we liked a lot. We were excited by the family atmosphere and the staff which is always ready to help.
The room was very clean, the hotel is very clean overall as well.
The location was absolutely perfect, there's a market nearby where it's possible to buy fruits and more.
The owner and staff are helpful, friendly, English speaking and have excellent communication.
The rooms were lovely and well stocked. bed was exceptionally comfortable.
We stayed for 12 days and it proved to be a good base for all things to visit around Kunming.
The village itself is a lovely traditional Yunnan village with several excellent local cuisine restaurants.
The hotel is located in the center of the Kunming city, a walking distance to shopping centers, restaurants, and metro station. The hotel room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was great. The hotel staffs were nice and helpful. We enjoyed the stay in the hotel. We will choose the same hotel next time!
Breakfast was very nice ,and comfortable hotel and with a request from me to a higher level, they didn’t hesitate to upgrade me which was a wonderful experience, from a lady who speak English with a beautiful smile and friendly. I wish I remember her name.
Breakfast buffet was great. Huge amount of choices and great view from the 49th floor. The lounge on the 48th floor was really nice. With nice drinks and a delicious buffet. The staff throughout the hotel were lovely and very helpful.
Good location, nice atmosphere, very nice room, spacious and confortable, one of the best we had in our travel in China. Very good value for money. Staff speaks good English, is very helpful and nice. A real hostel!
Good value to money
Nice buffet dinner and price.
Hotel near to Kunming south railway station, 15 min. By car. Good to stay here for early morning train schedule to Xishuangbanna Pu’er and Laos.
Exceptional property within the compound of a former rubber factory. Restaurants, coffee shops, and bars located nearby. We found the location of the hotel to be great for discovering Kunming.
-Amazing, felt more like 5 star hotels compared to other Doubletree Locations
-Room was large
-Free shuttle services provided, make sure to contact the hotel in advance to arrange
Thats simply wow. It was the cheapest one in Kunming but for a solo traveller, it is the best. I was a little anxious about the cleanliness but it exceeded my expectations.
Location nearby to metro station and Kunming train station. Also easy accessible to nearby Nanxing pedestrian street where you can various local Yunnan foods.
