This was an older Crowne facility. I had a very nice suite. That was a surprise. It was very clean and well appointed. The price was about what I expected, but within line with what I wanted to pay.
The people who cleaned the rooms were wonderful. I got food poisoning in Chengdu at a restaurant. They brought me a lot of extra water, etc.
The concierge services were wonderful. When I booked, I talked to Kevin. He gave me a lot of information about Chengdu even before I got there. He referred me to Leo when I arrived in Chengdu. Leo really helped me a lot. Chengdu is so big and, if you are there to see the city, distances between places are long. The buses are full and the subway system is currently torn up to provide new lines. Leo hooked me up with a family who are taxi drivers. It was really easy to get from place to place. And, the cost, reasonable. Leo also gave me a lot of information about Chengdu that was highly useful. He really took time with me.
When I was sick, I ordered room service a couple of times. It was inexpensive and timely. The food was good. The breakfast buffet is huge. Things are replenished frequently and there are interesting offerings both Chinese and Western.
I feel that the "team" atmosphere of the hotel helped me make use of limited time in Chengdu. I was there for four days.

I made the mistake of visiting Chengdu when it was SNOWING and Wet Snow / Icy Rain drizzling for a few days in January 2024. That kind of (very rare) weather kills everything touristy in Chengdu: Most hotels have no heater. You need to use the AC......after one night's AC blowing, I woke up with a bad cough and developed a bad cold soon afterward. One tip: Ask your hotel for a movable heater for your room: Much better than using the AC.

Sichuan is well worth visiting and Chengdu, the capital, has an interesting history. The people are very friendly and there are plenty of places in and around the city to explore. The metro is excellent and the restaurants plentiful. Wouldn't go to the giant Panda Breeding Base if I visited again - very crowded and in January crowded but very little to see and parts of the centre shut and locked. Although the site is enormous, and it would take at least a day of walking to get around the whole place, there are I believe better and more intimate Panda centres in the area.

Interesting and culturally rich.
Interesting and culturally rich. Clean and technologically advance.
Friendly people and a safe country to visit and walk around.
Very affordable food.
However, everything will be in chinese, the signages, the menu and the language spoken. It was really challenging for non mandarin speakers to communicate there.
Not a place to shop though, cannot compare with Bangkok or Beijing.
The Panda Base is not worth a visit if you want to catch Pandas, because they will be either hiding or sleeping. However, that attractions have many instagram worthy spots to take pictures.
Kwan Chai alley is a must!! with very affordable opera shows.

Chengdu is a busy and popular travel destination in China.
Chengdu is a busy and popular travel destination in China. The museums are impressive and have amazing cultural relics. It can be hard to get a booking to visit a museum, the booking process can be difficult (mostly online via wechat). Some places in the city are very crowded, keep that in mind.

Chengdu is the capital city of Sichuan know for spicy Hotpots and pandas mainly. It’s a city that never sleeps with every possible entertainment you care to think of. Restaurants of every type, bars, clubs, spas, shopping centres and oodles of culture. What’s not to love?
It’s reputed that Chengdu has the most beautiful women and wherever you look serenity abounds in stylish attires appropriate to the sultry heady heat of summer.
We loved the shops underneath the hotel!! Super convenient for grocery and for a meal, with lots to choose from. The staff are so helpful and well trained, their service is top notch, which was the most unforgettable part of our stay. Breakfast is different everyday with several staple items, plus a chef counter who cooks fresh noodles, dumplings and wontons etc upon request. The location is convenient too, being close to a metro station with 2 lines, despite the recent construction happening right outside.
The hotel is located on a kind of small island, surrounded by river and park. Quiet and there is space for a walk, free and convenient parking. Staff is super good. Buffet breakfast is good 8/10 compared to others branded hotels, rooms are clean, has bathroom. We paid around 70 usd per night, very good value for that price. Some hotels for 100 us in China are worse. Great territory an can have breakfast outside.
Staff were very polite and accommodating. Not being able to converse in Mandarin with them staff took their time to help us working through our day to day itinerary even showing us nearest bus stop. Xiong Guifang bfast staff was caring and kind assisting us with her limited English.
Thank you for providing excellent support during our 3 days stay.
Will recommend hotel.
The room with patio in front looking onto the historic building and the quiet side street is unique. The inner courtyard adds to the charming atmosphere.
From the nearby Metro station you get to any point in Chengdu easily
The service and assistance of the staff is outstanding
We have already booked the hotel for our next visit
Everything! The location is perfect and the hotel itself is really nice and stylish, also with an inner garden which is so peaceful. Not to mention the staff, they are all outstanding and left even a surprise in the room for my boyfriend’s birthday. Will definitely come back because we had one of the best stays ever!
Hotel located in south Chengdu and easy reach to city center by metro or automobile. the Breakfast is in both western and Chinese flavor which is perfect! once I visit chengdu again will definitly stay at Faimont chengdu again.
I have had a positive experience at the hotel, especially with the helpful concierge services and the excellent assistance from Doris. I stayed in this hotel before and after my trips to Tibet on mid September 2023.
Comfortable and great value for money.
Nicole welcomed us warmly to the hotel, and did an amazing job of introducing Chengdu to us, recommending attractions and food. Thank you Nicole for an amazing stay!
I lost my bracelet which is a gift from my hubby and the hotel staff found it in my room. Thank you so much for the honesty and efficiency of the staff! They are exceptional!
