Salento is picturesque with colorful houses and beautiful interiors, located in the mountains and with a valley that is one of the main entrances to the high "nevados". Everything in Salento is about coffee, art, nature, birds and hiking. The best time to visit Salento is outside of the high season for a truly relax experience.

The cocora valley was closed on the 2 days we were there.
The cocora valley was closed on the 2 days we were there. This was the main reason we went and due to heavy rains or something along those lines, the road was damaged and not accessible by the Willy trucks. So everyone in line was turned away and told it was closed. Salento is very salesy - Filandia is a similar vibe with all of the painted houses but a bit less sales oriented. Would have stayed in Filandia and visited Salento for the day instead.
Coffee excursion was enjoyable.

Beautiful, colorful and lively town that preserves the architecture, traditions and flair of Colombia's coffee region. The place welcomes everyone , solo travelers, couples, families, etc. It offers a good variety of activities, ranging from strolling around the town to mountain trekking, from tours at coffee farms to fine handcrafts shopping, from dining traditional dishes to international cuisine. I recommend visiting this town to everyone.

I was pleased we chose to stay in Salento rather than at an outlying hacienda. Salento was very crowded with tourists/travelers but the town plaza was our favorite place to be in the mornings/evenings. Our two favorite restaurants were Juan Esteban (on the square) and Betatown. Both had very good food and service.

A cute, colourful town near the stunning Valle de Cocora, which is the main reason to visit. The coffee tours are a bit touristy, but it’s a good vibe. Be sure to play “tejos” and have a few beers at Los Amigos.
The bubble room is an interesting experience. It's really fun early in the morning and then in the evening, but you can't stay in it during the day as it gets too hot. Overall, the hotel is really beautiful, the staff very attentive, and I liked the hammocks and the restaurant in the common area.
Located 3 kms from Cocora valley, we were initially concerned about being able to get in and out of the place to Salento or to the valley - but we were able to flag down a passing jeep every time without any difficulty.
I’ve been travelling in Colombia for a month now and this was my favourite place that I’ve stayed so far. It was very clean and really homely and the owners and the staff were delightful and so helpful. Louis helped me book trips and gave me great tips for places to eat, he also helped me carry my very heavy case to the room and then to the taxi. Would highly recommend Terrazas de Salento to anyone looking for a clean, authentic and quiet hotel that is only a couple of minutes walk to the Main Street.
I liked everything. Location only 4 blocks from center. Hotel itself is decorated nicely. Breakfast is excellent. Coffee and water available all day. There are different room types but mine was clean, well decorated, had a safe, good wifi, hot water, and the bed was really comfortable. Botas (rubber boots), umbrella, and rain poncho are free to use. Best aspect of Casa Salento is the staff, they are very helpful with a smile! I highly recommend this place.
ITS REALLY A GEM IN THE MIDDLE OF THE EJE CAFETERO IN THE MOUNTAINS CLOSE TO SALENTO. THE EXPERIENCE OF THE HOTEL WITH HIS ECOLOGICAL APPROACH, THE NATURE IT IS SURROUNDED. THE ROOMS VERY CLEAN, BIG AND NICE DECORATED ON A VERY NATURAL WAY HELPS TO FIND THE RETREAT THAT IS PART OF HIS NAME.
I ENJOYED A LOT AND CERTAINLY WILL RETURN SOME DAY
THE STAFF IS VERY NICE AND ATTENTIVE ALL THE TIME - VERY SPECIAL PERSONS
Jesus and family were great people! They really know their way around Salento and you could ask them anything and they will know. PERFECT showers/facilities with hot water and great water pressure. Kitchen was super clean with everything that you need. Bed was comfy with curtains. Rooms were spacious and you could spread your things around. 2 bathrooms in a 6-bunk dorm? Unheard of but they had it!
The view of the hotel is breathtaking. Location is good. 10 minutes walking from Salento center. Breakfast was wonderful. They serve delicious scrambled eggs, fresh fruits, fruit juice, coffee, bread, cream cheese, cereals etc. Cristina is a great host. She is very helpful with your questions about restaurants, coffee farm tours, cocora valley tours etc. Overall we loved this place!
Everything was SO PERFECT. The staff, the room, the place, the room, the breakfast. Everything was clean, nearby the center. Don’t look further on booking, just book this place. Probably the best stay in Salento. We realy regret that we just stayed for 1 night .. Our best ‘boutique hotel’ experience so far during our travel in Colombia. Thank you for this!
El Mirador del Cocora was our highlight location from our travels as Valle de Cocora is simply the most beautiful place in all Colombia. The hotel is located at the top of the Salento village so you have absolutely stunning views of surrounding mountains. You can see real foothills of the might Andes from there!
Beautiful family hotel with splendid views across the valley and mountains next to Salento. The villa is situated on the edge of the town, quiet with a nice garden and space to leave a car. The host family is very welcoming and friendly. Short walk into the town centre and to the mirador.
Great hotel to visit Salento, and to go to the Cocora vallee for hiking!
The hotel is nice, clean and the bed are big!
There is a restaurant in the rooftop of the hotel were we had breakfast!
Few minutes from the main square and bars or restaurants!
Would definitely recommend!
We really enjoyed our stay at El Zorzal
Pros
- safe hotel and surroundings
- short 5min walk to center of Salento
- very close to bus station
- quite large basic room, very clean
- hot water, new towel daily
- nice terrace to hang out/work
- friendly dog
This is an old traditional Salento house turned into a hotel. It has a well maintained, beautiful garden. The location is great, just a few steps away from the center. Breakfast is fresh and delicious, and everyone is super friendly and helpful.
the view is the best you’ll find in Salento. The staff are super friendly and the location is great. I really enjoyed being able to explore the pueblito while feeling like I was staying in nature.
also hammock sunset views , can’t beat it
Even thought the location at night was kind of confusing. Well that’s what you have to expect cause is not a hotel so I was good about it. The view😍 and at night you can see the Milky Way! The place was really confortable.
I loved the time we spent at the hotel Natura Cocora. The location is exceptional, 15 min from Salento and in the middle of the nature. We went with my family and we were very happy with the service and the installations.
Everything in Salento is super close so location wasn't a problem.
Breakfast was decent, and the hotel is the closest to the jeeps that take you out on tours.
