This is a place for all seasons.
This is a place for all seasons. The city is hospitable, multicultural and pedestrian friendly. It’s also very dog friendly. I noticed that dogs are allowed in the shopping malls and I saw dogs allowed in almost every shop including department stores.

I didn't go to Duisburg to see the city.
I didn't go to Duisburg to see the city. I went to see the opening night of the opera house's production of Wagner's opera "The Flying Dutchman". The musical and dramatic standard was very high, and it was a most memorable cultural experience. It is not just a beautiful opera house, it offers many fine productions year round. The city is only about 10 minutes from Dusseldorf airport, so easy to get to.
Apart from the Opera House (Theater Duisburg) I can't think of any other reason I would want to visit Duisburg. Pity that Booking.com does not list the opera house as the major cultural venue worth commenting on.

The harbours are awesome.
The harbours are awesome. I have never seen so many ships, cranes , containers in an inland harbour . Really good cycling paths, easy access to the Rhine and Ruhr. Good restaurants. I recommend Mykonos in Meiderich. Very friendly people. Some parts are in need of modernisation. Public transport very good.

What a horrible city!
What a horrible city! I’ve travelled all over Germany, visited at least 50 towns and cities, but I hadn’t been to Duisburg yet, so I figured I’d give it a go. Don’t bother! Apparently it’s one of the poorest cities in Germany and it shows. What a dilapidated, sad city. Even in the city centre there’s buildings that are falling apart, so many empty and abandoned storefronts. Inhabitants of the city appeared sad and bored as well, not exactly the friendliest folks in Germany. Not worth a visit, except for the amazing and free Landschaftspark Duisburg Nord. Definitely hit it up for a visit of an hour or two if you’re in the Ruhr area, it’s worth the drive or ride by public transit, but don’t bother with the rest of the city.
superfriendly staff , stayed with family and had a huge room with 4 beds and babybed and still felt super spatious. Gigantic tv , nice bathroom. Breakfast was better than the standard hotel breakfast. Similar but very good quality. Kids could make their own waffles , which is great. Needs to be repeated that the staff is superfriendly. Only encountered this treatment at 5 star hotels. The price was super good value. Very nice decor as well and free parking at the hotel + checkout until 11. its like hotel heaven
The beds here are SO comfortable! After a long journey it was exactly what I needed to recuperate - close to Duisburg HBF, nearby the park, lots of restaurants to choose from and the lady on the front desk even offered to move me from my reserved room to the first floor once she saw how tired I was. I also don't speak German, and had no troubles with that here.
The room was perfectly clean and I had a private bathroom as well as television and desk to sit at.
10/10 would recommend!!
This is where I love to stay whenever I need to stay overnight in this part of Germany after an event in a mix of cities - Duisburg, Düsseldorf, Mülheim, Cologne, etc. It is a very good value-for-money, no-frills hotel within walking distance of the Central Station (Hbf). You can check in using a machine and it is all very easy.
Good hotel. It has its own parking, it is quiet and peaceful. Responsive staff.
The location is not very good relative to the center, but if you like to walk and the weather is good, then this is not a problem.
The room is spacious.
Breakfast is not very varied.
Excellent hotel. Staff was very friendly. We stayed in the apartment, which was really large and well equipped. Good German breakfast, we enjoyed the breakfast room and the old-fashioned crockery.
The hotel is close to the U-Bahn to central Duisburg. Recommended!
The location is great as the hotel is close to the city centre. The breakfast buffet is really good and worth the money. The room is spacious and comfortable, the staff friendly and helpful. We would highly recommend this hotel.
I got to the place around noon. The room was nice and comfortable and I went to eat at a restaurant just outside. Had a parking spot near the door of the hotel. Had a great rest there before continuing my journey to essen
The hotel staff is very friendly, our room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. In the vicinity of the hotel, you can find shops, pizza place and a train station that can take you to the Duisburg old town (3 stops).
The apartment was excellent. I stayed for two days for work and it surpassed my expectations. Very good location, clean, plenty of room and very comfortable. I strongly recommend it if you stop by in Duisburg!
The keys were available at the door. It was a very clean, comfortable and quiet apartment. It is just 2 stops from the hbf. The neighbourhood is nice, with a supermarket nearby. The host was very helpful.
We are in the middle of a move and this hotel was a great location for our girls to walk to school and for us to do everything at needed to do.
The restaurant was wonderful. The staff was very friendly
Just a very good hotel, best in its class.
Very nice room, new furnitute, very clean.
Breakfast great in a very pleasant breakfast room.
Great location, opposite railway station, close to inner stad.
Amazing to have a swimming pool in a small suburban hotel. The manager was very friendly and helpful. Safe bike storage. Breakfast very good. Really appreciated the apples to take on our cycle journey!
Location was good. Facilities were good. Short walk to the streetcar. In the middle of summer I mainly choose based on which hotels have air conditioning. The room was cold, so I was happy.
The hotel is very nice, it looks like it was refurbished from a very old hotel, which I liked. You don't see much of that anymore. The breakfast was fabulous.
