Freudenstadt is a good base for exploring the river valleys in northern Black Forest. Nowhere is too far, for example Baden Baden about 45 mins away. City feels like a safe place, the central square, said to be biggest in Germany, has a number of restaurants and a small brewery, Very pleasant place to end the day. There are all the usual supermarkets: REWE, Lidl, Aldi. Plenty of service stations. Huge parking under town square. Everything very new, town was destroyed by French artillery in '45.

A beautiful quiet town. Picturesque square with fountains and beautiful flower arrangements this time of year (end August). Try the Brauhaus in the main square. Great beer, great food, highly recommended.

We stayed one night on our way to Italy and arrived late (18:00), which might have been a bit too short to see the town. There were alot of restaurants to eat at, and the area around the village is very nice. If you like to have a nice drive with a couple of stops with a great view you should try the B500 road.

Very comfortable, very clean we enjoyed just staying in the flat. Lovely big, perfectly fitted kitchen. All the furniture very comfortable and high quality. The Balcony, was our main hangout spot with a lovely view of the Schwarzwald trees, and village life.
