The birthplace of Picasso is as colourful as an artist’s palette, from the deep blue of the Mediterranean Sea to the golden sun, which gives 300 days of sunshine per year. When the sun sets, the vibrant nightlife awakens and you’ll find your place amongst the youthful square of the old centre, the trendy bars of La Malagueta or on one of the terraces of Pedregalejo.
There's also rich history underneath the sun and fun. Alcazaba is a Moorish castle from the 11th century and just next to it are the remnants of a Roman Theatre. The white stone tower of the Malaga Cathedral rises up in the heart of the city centre, and offers an interesting respite from sun bathing on the magnificent and popular beaches.
A more modern history can be appreciated by visiting the birthplace of Picasso and a museum full of exhibitions by Malaga’s most famous resident. A more relaxed Spanish city than Madrid and Barcelona, Malaga is still the gateway to the Costa del Sol and the busy Malaga Airport is only 10 km from the centre of town.
From budget hostels to 5-star luxury hotels, with Booking.com you’re sure to find the perfect accommodation for your sunny holiday.

Have been doing a short break to the city of Malaga for 10 years in a row now. Started as 3 people and this (and last year) were 12. Fantastic city offering both old and new. Moorish lanes and a modern port area. Lots and bars & restaurants. Really nice beach (Malagueta) with others in easy access. Got a local train to Torremolinos which was only 20 mins away. Love everything about my annual short break in Malaga.

Surprisingly beautiful city with a lot to offer.
Surprisingly beautiful city with a lot to offer.
Lively atmosphere, very good restaurants, some amazing buildings.
There can be long queues and some confusion at ticket offices, train station, etc. but this is part of the local folklore.

Our hotel was so well placed that by crossing the road in one direction we were in the main shopping street and old town and by crossing the road in the other direction we could walk along the harbour/ port front to the lighthouse, the beach and the bull ring.
There were many places of interest to visit both inside and out and much of the centre was pedestrianised. The paths across Malaga were like wide boulevards with plenty of shade to be had and lovely garden areas to walk through. There was a wide variety of eating places to choose from. In a day and a half we saw all that we wanted and would definitely return again for a pleasant and easy short break having left a few sights to visit in the future. The airport is only a short taxi ride away. It would also make a good centre from which to visit other places of interest along the coast and inland.

Loved Calle Larios, the huge choice of restaurants and bars.
Loved Calle Larios, the huge choice of restaurants and bars. Beautiful architecture, views, museums and great walk to the port and beaches!
A great charming city, old and new to walk and explore so much!
Breakfast was enough to choose from and tasted great. Room was very larg, with a comfortable large (king size) bed. Simple furnished, incl. coffee machine and refridgerator. Large bath with plenty of warm water and pressure. The Hotel is within walking distance to downtown Malaga, beach, harbor, ATM, and shopping/restaurants - great location. It was quiet during our stay, and we enjoyed the location and friendly staff. What I thought was interesting is that they contacted me via WhatsApp and provided helpful information.
For its category, this hotel is great. Spotless rooms with white linen and bathroom. Coffee machine and coffee pods available in the room. Upon arrival, we were greeted with fresh bottles of water. Homemade continental buffet. Hotel is 5 mins drive to airport. It’s sitting in a neighborhood full of beautiful houses. 5 mins walk to the beach. Beautiful garden and pool to relax. 10 mins drive to the Designer Outlet. If you don’t want all the hustle and bustle of Malaga center, here’s a quiet spot. Recommend indeed!
The hotel is central to the shopping and old town of Malaga, 10 minutes from railway station and 20 minutes from airport, both by taxi. The reception, bar and restaurant staff were wonderful, with a special treat waiting in our room when we got back to it at night. I think the room we had may have been an upgrade as it was on the Essence floor (5) and the room was one of the best we have stayed in. Probably exaggerating a little but the bed was as big as a football pitch.
Owner met us outside the apartment after contacting him when we landed at the airport. He was very friendly and gave us tips as to where to eat in Malaga. Excellent location one block away from the beach and a lovely walk into the old town. Apartment was just as the photos and very clean and well equipped. Lovely little balcony with a lovely view to towards the cathedral. Would definitely recommend.
The staff and manager were very helpful. The manager provided much information to us on what to see and do! Great location, quiet. Driving from the airport is challenging due to confusing roundabouts, but google maps did locate the parking lot accurately. The walk from parking to the hotel was not difficult. We will stay here again the next time we visit Malaga!
Great location a 10 minute walk from Malaga Old Town, but off the main touristy area. The hotel was modern, clean and comfortable. The room was large, clean, and comfortable with large super-king bed, large bathroom, and coffee machine. We chose the breakfast option and there was a great hot and cold breakfast options each morning.
IT WAS CLEAN. On our 4th day in Malaga we decided to change hotel from the previous. The immense difference in class this hotel has compared to some in the old town. They also stored our luggage since we were there before check in. Honestly we did not leave the room, the tv has YouTube and Netflix. Great hotel for fair price.
Location was perfect for accessing the old town and a short walk to the port and beaches. Private was a lovely touch. Elizabeth was excellent and gave us many recommendations for Malaga and the next location we were traveling to. Would definitely stay here again.
Close to it all. Old town, back streets, train station, port, beach, castle, even Malaga C.F stadium. Compact hotel and good value with the authentic back street Spanish city feel. Good guy on reception who gave alot of solid recommendations and things to see.
Well located very good Hotel near the Malaga Old Town.
One can reach the most attractions just by walking.
The Hotel has a Swimming Pool, and one can also easily reach the Malagueta Beach just across the Beach Road.
Lots of Restaurants what to choose.
Lovely contemporary decor, very clean and comfortable. Location was great, especially for those flying into Malaga airport - just 15 minutes on the train and a 5 minute walk to the hotel! Helpful and accommodating staff. We look forward to coming back :-)
Great location, few meters from malaga centro train station which makes access from and to the airport super easy. You can easily walk to main hot spots of the city from the hotel which is an excellent advantage.
Most of the staff members are friendly.
Locatated in the old town of Málaga. The "Movida" of this city is walking distance. Very good decoration and a pool on rooftop make this hotel an excelent choice with good price-quality relationship to stay in a 5 stars in the city center.
This lovely, very clean and comfortable apartment is in a great neighbourhood close to the old town, the harbour and the beach. It is easy to get to from the Malaga Central Station, which runs direct to the airport. A fantastic place.
Everything about this hotel is perfect.
The LOCATION is PERFECT.
The Jr. Suite is PERFECT.
The Staff is PERFECT.
It was my second time in Hotel Boutique Teatro Romano and this is my hotel when I am in Malaga.
Wonderful 5 star hotel in the perfect location- one block around the corner from central Malaga’s stores and restaurants- you can walk to anywhere. Comfortable beds
