Situated next to the border with Portugal, Salamanca has unique architecture including Romanesque, Gothic, Moorish, Renaissance and Baroque monuments. The Old Cathedral dates from the 12th-13th centuries and joined together with the 16th-century New Cathedral.
One of the most charming squares in Spain, Plaza Mayor is the heart of Salamanca and an excellent example of Baroque architecture. Enjoy a walk around the exterior terraces, savour an ice cream or relax in one of the picturesque restaurants.

Very clean city. Lots of places to eat and chat. People were helpful and friendly. There is a lovely atmosphere in the square and we felt very safe. We watched the streets been cleaned regularly and the local police were very helpful.

Salamanca is a beautiful city with lots of fabulous buildings all within easy walking distance. It also has good restaurants (definitely try Taberna de Libreros) It can be busy when the day trippers arrive but is quieter in the evenings.

Great architecture and friendly atmosphere.
Great architecture and friendly atmosphere. Plenty of bars and restaurants.
It would have been very helpful if menus could have been in English for us as many times we didn’t buy because we didn’t know what we were ordering and the translate app wasn’t good enough at times. Made food ordering laborious and way to difficult at times.

Salamanca is a lovely city and definitely worth a visit.
Salamanca is a lovely city and definitely worth a visit. We stayed 3 night and were able to see everything we wanted without rushing.
It is a walkable city. We came by train and left by bus. We used the local bus only once, and that was to get to our apartment.
We were there during Easter weekend, so reservations are important. Great restaurants and food.

If you want to really know Spain: Visit Salamanca.
If you want to really know Spain: Visit Salamanca. I think it is underrated for what it is. Every corner of the city will surprise you with its rich cultural heritage. Brilliantly lit at night, it is perfect for late night tours. The city is safe, people are friendly, food is simply excellent! Didnt get enough out of my visit, will go again!
The hotel is perfectly located, just across from some popular shopping streets, about a 5 minute walk from the Plaza Mayor.
It is an old style hotel that certainly retains its elegance. The staff, the foyer, the rooms all look the part.
The rooms were large, clean, stylish and well equipped.
When I booked the hotel, I thought that, given the price, there must be a catch. If there is, I missed it. This hotel is one of the best value for money bookings I have come across. When I return to Salamanca, this is the first hotel I will look for.
The hotel room was very spacious, large and spotlessly clean, it smelled fresh when we entered. The staff were helpful. The location of the hotel is not exactly in the centre, but you can reach the Roman Bridge on foot in 5-10 minutes depending on your walking speed. You can park for free on the streets around the hotel, which is a great advantage. It is a hotel we will come again when we come to Salamanca again. There are both Lidl and Mercadona just one street parallel to the hotel, this is also an advantage if you need something.
This was our VERY favorite hotel in our 2-week vacation in Spain and Portugal. When we arrived, the staff greeted us like long-lost friends. She gave us a printed list of recommendations for sites in the city and restaurants with a city map.
The hotel is stunningly beautiful - the artwork, the stained glass, the furnishings! The hotel has several conversation areas.
The breakfast was included in the stay and was amazingly wonderful! So many selections and an option to order from the kitchen also.
The hotel was just outside the old town. Short walk across the pedestrian bridge, Salamanca as a whole was a big surprise. What a fun area with lots to explore and see and do, I wish I had planned for more time. Very young people and activity. Enormous plaza with so many dinning choices. It was BEAUTIFUL. Going out on the roof of the cathedral was a bonus tour the is a must experience (if you don't mind heights.
Excellent location for exploring Old City Salamanca. The hotel is well maintained and modern. We had a room with a small balcony. Although not large enough for sitting, it was great for ventilation as we also had a window by the entry door.
The breakfast was a bit pricey for what it was but worth it so we didn't have to leave.
Staff was very friendly.
If ever in Salamanca again we woud surely stay at Hotel Rua.
We loved the location of hotel to everything to see in Salamanca, reception staff were really helpful and friendly Car parking was excellent, with the biggest car spaces we seen in any hotel in Spain and right beside the hotel so handy if you needed something from car, reception gave you key and fob to access it at any time so perfect
Breakfast was adequate and good selection
The location is perfect, just one minute to the congress center and in the middle of the old city. In the nearby there are many restaurants, coffee shops and nice shops. Nevertheless the street is very quiet.
The breakfast was good, including fresh fruits and natural orange juice.
I will stay in this hotel again whenever I come back to Salamanca.
This is our second time to stay at this hotel. It was excellent value for money. The bedroom was clean and comfortable. Very friendly and efficient staff. Buffet style breakfast was excellent and again great value. There is parking in front of the hotel. It’s about a twenty minute walk into beautiful Salamanca town. We’ll definitely go back again.
A beautiful hotel and right in the centre of the old town. All of Salamanca's attractions are at the doorstep.
The room was superb and felt luxurious. The bed was very comfortable and the room and bathroom were lovely. Sercotel Puerta del la Catedral was the best hotel experience I had during my 3 week holiday in Spain.
Loved everything about unit! We were visiting our son who was studying this semester in Spain. Looked at lots of options before deciding to stay here. So happy we did. Great location, very friendly and helpful staff, local wine gift when we arrived. Only negative was we wanted to stay longer!
the location was perfect. 1 minute walking from plaza Mayor the center of the city
Rebecca the receptionist was the most smiling and helpful one. Rebecca helped me to find a way to get to my flight in Madrid on time. She’s awesome! The rest of the staff were more rigid.
Good value for money if you are only looking for a stop over motor inn. If you don't drive, it is about 4km walk to the center of the city. Food is reasonably priced. Car park is free (hard to find such a deal in Spain) right in front of the hotel.
Located as close as possible to the center of town without making the entry cumbersome. About ten minute walk to Plaza Major and close to all the highlights of Salamanca . Large comfortable rooms with friendly staff.
The whole hotel is geared to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Room sizes are huge and very well fitted out. Great views of the cathedral.
Breakfast was superb.
Easy access to central Salamanca - nice walk.
The location in the heart of Salamanca is great. The hotel facilities are first class with all the amenities that you would expect from a top hotel. The building is an extremely old building and very quaint.
Easy to book and the apartment was comfortable. They accept 2 dogs per room, really appreciated, as in Spain we are too behind for “pet friendly”. So thank you!
