The evening reception staff was very helpful. Unfortunately we were told on arrival in the early evening that the restaurant wasn’t open at the weekend so this meant we had to find something to eat outside or order takeaway. The heavens opened when we started our trip into town. The scheduled bus didn’t arrive so soaking wet we returned to the hotel and ordered a takeaway which the reception staff helped us with. We finally ate at 9pm.

Accessible to both beaches and town walking, sits on top of well maintained public car park. I had a very spacious room with small balcony with little table and chairs - wifi suspect, but told that’s town-wide in bad weather ( we had a storm) really like the run along the beach to the light house and evening stroll both to eat out and buy both posh and basic provisions breakfast also good

Cite de l'Ocean was an amazing VR experience, we had a joint ticket with the Aquarium which was also good. You could easily spend half a day at Cite de l'Ocean. Biarritz has some grand buildings and would have great views on a sunnier day. The view from the lighthouse is stunning, so worth the climb. We enjoyed the Musee Asiatique, everywhere we visited catered well for British visitors. Buses were easy to use, we found lots of great Basque restaurants.

Biarritz has long enjoyed a reputation for glamour and monied high-class living. Many of the shops certainly cater for this sort of visitor, but there were plenty of what might be termed 'ordinary' tourists, who could enjoy the stunning vistas and beautiful locations along the coast. Don't miss the Port Des Pecheurs.
It is very easy to achieve a day trip to San Jean De Luz by using the (exceptionally cheap and easy to use) local bus service (Txik Txak) that operates in the region.
The town never felt overrun, nor underused. The beaches are very clean and well managed. There are plenty of places to eat and drink, with prices for every pocket.
Also, the footprint of Biarritz is pretty compact so that those without mobility issues are able to explore and spend time in the well-ordered shopping locations, the public gardens and the cafes and restaurants.
A special mention for the beautifully turned out (covered) market: well worth a visit and a stop for coffee, pastries or crepes.
Finally, the ocean creates great conditions for surfing, an activity clearly enjoyed by the locals as well as visitors.

Biarritz is a beautiful town with so much to see.
Biarritz is a beautiful town with so much to see. A perfect mix of incredible nature and city. Walking paths along the cliffs by the beach provided some exercise and exceptional views. Never ending pastry shops, cafes, bars were appealed to the culinary senses.
The best things about the hotel are the location - immediately onto a very picturesque beach and a short walk from the centre of Biarritz - and the senior staff, who were very helpful at all times. We were told there were a number of new members of staff who weren't particularly good at bringing drinks etc when asked, but those in charge took immediately to task when asked. The pool is good, not too busy and the room a good size with a fair sized bathroom. The shower was a bit 1970s - one of those mixer-tap affairs but it was ok.
We arrived early and the room was not ready but they said they would call us when ready after a short walk on the beach they called 30 mins later to say room was ready and we got in early. At check in the staff were friendly and helpful. Explained the city map to us for a walk about and where we could go at night to eat for a good choice and great atmosphere. Great location next to the beach. The breakfast was one of the best i have had in an hotel. Great choice and good food and looked after by very good and attentive staff.
– A wonderfully modern two-floor house in a very central location in Biarritz
– Great showers
– Modern kitchen with all the appliances you could want (if you can't find the cutlery, it's because you open one of the drawers and then have to pull open the slightly hidden drawer at the top)
– Washer/dryer comes in handy if you get things dirty on the beach
– Friendly and welcoming owners who run the hotel opposite the property and are therefore on hand should there be any problems
The staff was graciously friendly even with the small language barrier. The Wi-Fi was great. The entire hotel was spotlessly clean and the air conditioner in the room worked wonderfully. The location was fantastic as many restaurants were close by and it was a short walk to the beach. If you are planning on traveling low key and want a pleasant place to stay that is no frills and no stress I would recommend Hotel Oxo.
Is this a 5 star hotel? No it's a lovely 3 star...so you know what to expect.
Is it a beautiful period quaint building? Yes it is.
Is it convenient to get about? Yes it is ...in a very nice area of Biarritz only 10 minutes walk from the Gran Plage.
Are the staff helpful? Yes Aurelie couldn't have been more helpful and kind.
I had a great stay at la Maison du Lierre ! Team is super friendly, they gave me a lot of advices to visit the beautiful city that Biarritz is. My room was cosy (balcony with garden view) and super clean, + the location is the best. I’ll definitely recommend this hotel to my friends and family. Thank you la Maison du Lierre
The location is perfect, small and very clean hotel in the heart of Biarritz, close to bars, restaurants, cafes and a few steps from the sea. The staff were super friendly at all times, both at reception and the cleaning staff who paid attention to every detail. I would definitely recommend it 100%!
Hotel was approx 20 minutes walk away from the Buzz of Biarritz which was perfect for us.
Both receptionists on duty were excellent and gave us loads of info and recommended 2 Restaurants and booked them for us.
On the first night we ate in the Hotel which hit the spot after a long drive.
This hotel is walking distance to the train station. We had difficulty using the machine for late checking and an employee came out and helped. If she wouldn’t have come out, we would not have been able to get our key.
The location was pretty perfect, we had an ocean view room with a juliet balcony. Very nice hotel, clean, art deco. Would highly recommend Biarritz for a couple of nice, just so classy and pretty, great food
the hotel is new and very nice, the rooms were small for a family to tell the truth. It is not far from the center 10 -15 min walk, staff was very friendly and helpful
