i like walking on the promenade, along to Newlyn, took the Mounts Bay coast path to Marazion, took the bus to Trengwainton gardens- lovely to see the magnolias, rhododendrons and camellias - interesting walks round the gardens and a lovely cafe with friendly staff and good food.
Visited Trewidden gardens by bus and also took the train to St. Ives- a lovely scenic run along the coast.
Penzance town has a nice selection of shops and it is worth exploring the back streets and the area round Chapel street. On previous visits have been to the Morrab gardens and other parks. Penzance is easy to walk round, has a good bus service and the tourist information staff are very knowledgable and helpful.

Went in the end of February, it was a quiet time with everything closing by 10pm, and last buses leaving early, but it's just as lovely if not more so as any other time of the year could be. Even for hiking, if you get ready for the wind, the rain, the fog, the mud and the cold.

Penzance is a small town which has many quirky shops, art galleries , restaurants and coffee shops. What does let it down is the amount of old falling apart buildings and many shop closures - not unlike most small towns in the UK at the moment and in need of council investment.
A lot of people seemed to be on holiday although I would imagine it being much busier in summer, which is also a trend with the boom of holiday cottages in Cornwall. Hopefully Penzance does have enough locals living in it that it will still thrive and not just become a tourist town only like so many towns in Cornwall and around the UK as local communities are the heart and soul of what makes a town.

We went in winter, quite a few of the shops were closed.
We went in winter, quite a few of the shops were closed. Quite a bit of road works on our journey down. Beautiful town, very hilly. Definitely worth a visit for the history. We had dinner at the Longboat In. Food was very good. Traffic was quite busy as only one road into town centre and out.
This place is amazing! Every space is beautiful, cozy with a very special energy, the room is very nice decorated, super clean and you have a delicious breakfast included. The location is perfect! Close to the center, the beach and very close to places like st Ives and Lands End.
Ally and Mike were very kind and friendly from our arrival, make you feel like home. We are definitely coming back soon!
The best place we have stayed in Penzance and in Cornwall. Highly highly recommended!
Josh is an extremely friendly and helpful host. He gave us a lot of insider advice as to what to visit in Penzance and also in Brighton (where we had a blast in Snooper's Paradise!). During our stay, he always made sure that we have everything we needed. The hotel is well-located and the rooms are comfortable and equipped with everything that one might require. The breakfast room is neat and offers a variety of healthy options, including fresh fruit.
Parking available for 2 or 3 cars round the back of the hotel - opposite tennis courts, or on street with no restrictions. Great shared facilities which are ideal for bringing back a takeaway and using the glasses provided for wine etc. Huge wooden dining table.
Room perfectly clean and spacious. Great to use the TV to log into Netflix and Wi-Fi works perfectly.
A great place to stay in Penzance. We'll be back again to further explore coastal areas.
The room was spacious and comfortable. Extremely clean and well kept. Onto mine and my girlfriends favourite thing, how comfy the bed was! You sunk into the mattress and the pillows were amazing! Both agreed this was possibly our best nights sleep in a hotel. Perfect location right in the middle of Penzance with great transport links. Parking right outside which is free from 4pm until 9am so you only pay minimum depending on how long you stay.
Incredibly clean. well managed and excellent value for money for budget hotel in an area which has become expensive in recent years. Great breakfast, handy parking and great location. Big supermarkets nearby, next to Long Rock beach and easy walking distance of Penzance bus and train stations. Bus stop right outside as well. Convenient on site parking. Excellent breakfast with full English and continental combined. Lovely, helpful staff.
The Stanley is perfectly located for the ferry and was literally a 2 minute walk. There was plenty of parking nearby where we were able to park our car for the week. The breakfast was really lovely and will last you through till lunchtime. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. If we find ourselves once again getting the ferry from Penzance, we would not hesitate staying at The Stanley.

I would look for "Hotel Penzance" when around again Thanks more more to rooms excellent
The hotel location was good to travel, via public transport ( like I did during my whole trip ), to different interesting locations, around Penzance and the whole south of Cornwall. A good walking distance to the town center. I'd stay again there as I am thinking of my Summer Holidays now !!!
Super evening meal, on a meal deal basis with breakfast. Thiswas actually not the Beachfield, but Hotel Penzance, the sister hotel to which we were transferred as the Beachfield renovation was incomplete. No problem to us, although wehad to Park on road, which was very steep!
The hotel was in a great location in Penzance. Our room was on the top floor and had a good view across Mounts Bay. The beds were spotlessly clean and very comfy. Shower was good and toilet clean. We had a good breakfast and the staff were friendly, polite and helpful.
The best breakfasts I have ever had with plenty of choice as well. Location was fantastic, just a short walk to the seafront and the town but still easy to drive out of Penzance in a car. Richard and Sarah were great hosts.
The hotel was wonderful and very quaint, and the innkeepers were so charming and affable. We had a lovely stay. They identity your room by but a sign with your first name on the door. We will be back.
Our room was very clean, comfortable and quiet. The property was within close walking distance to everything we needed in Penzance. We appreciated the warm welcome and fabulous breakfast!
Very big room with a modern decorated bathroom, nice host, would definitely come back to this hotel, and strongly recommend if you are visiting Penzance!
