The staff, hospitality, the food are all bang on point. It’s a no nonsense friendly hotel. Went for a nice walk on the fantastic beach on the doorstep. And in the evening you get the greatest of sunsets with the Isle of Man on the Horizon. I’d go back again.

Riverbank cottage was a great location. We were booked on the train at ravensglass the next day with a cream tea.The parking in the road was really good. We really enjoyed sitting on the balcony with fantastic views over looking the river.

The room was quiet, but the view from both windows showed a lot of rubish. So, don't look to the outside. Television was working, but we did not find the password for the WiFi connection. The first night we bought fish and chips opposite the road and ate it in a pub, with a nice beer. Furthermore Egremont should be a historic market town, but it has nothing to offer.

Egremont is quite a sleepy town, but very pleasant and with the amenities that most holiday makers need. Great Coop, larger than average and good quality produce with lots of choice. Good bars with good food. A lovely castle ruin and pleasant walk in the castle grounds. Also an excellent Ice Cream parlour.

    Egremont was a disappointment .

Egremont was a disappointment . Predominately, the town consisted of the Co-op and take-aways. Although the high street boasts a number of shops and pubs most were closed or only open for limited periods. Only one Pub provided any food and this of the 'pub grub' variety. There were a number of charity shops but the two antique shops remained closed. Early closing Wednesday. The local people were genuinely warm and friendly and wished you a cheery time of day. At no time did I feel uncomfortable.

Such a shame. We were basically touring around Cumbria.

Such a shame. We were basically touring around Cumbria. Egremont didn’t offer much in the way of amenities for families. Easy reach of St Bees and Whitehaven but such a shame the town itself wasn’t very inviting. Cut our visit short to head for Windermere instead for an extra night
