Newquay has that laidback feel that goes hand in hand with being England’s undisputed surfing capital. The centre of the action is Fistral Beach whose swells and Cribbar Reef produce some of the largest breakers in the British Isles. The long, sandy beach is backed by tall dunes which give way to Newquay Golf Club.
Great Western Beach lies below sheer cliffs one street from the train station, while Towan Beach by the picturesque harbour is the closest to the town centre. Tolcarne Beach is sheltered in its own bay, as is the wide stretch of sand at Porth Beach whose northern coastline is 2 rocky headlands joined by a narrow footbridge over the sea.
Each beach is overlooked by luxury hotels with spas, cheap hostels and self-catering apartments on Booking.com. All are surrounded by Newquay’s restaurants, bars and clubs which offer the best nightlife this side of Bristol.
More leisurely pursuits include Trerice manor house in the countryside near the Lappa Valley Steam Railway. Buccaneer Bay and the Blue Reef Aquarium are popular with families, as are Waterworld and Newquay Zoo within Trenance Gardens.
Another favoured spot for a walk are the salt marshes by the River Gannel which is a prominent sight as you descend into Newquay Cornwall Airport.

We enjoyed Newquay.
We enjoyed Newquay. It was much improved since our last visit in the summer several years ago when it was very hard to avoid drunken teenagers. We were less impressed with the amount of dog mess on all the pavements.

We are an older couple in our sixties, so Newquay maybe does not hold the same appeal to us, as to a younger couple with kids, but, it was certainly a great base for exploring Cornwall.
We have to say that we did feel a little intimidated by some of the 'locals' around the train station. but that might just be an age thing.
The beaches and shoreline was very clean and well kept, and loved watching the surfers.

Fistral beach is beautiful and the walk to Pentire point overlooking Crantock is stunning. Newquay town is a little rundown but has everything one needs, more beaches with lots of steps so you need to be fit!

We went for the surfing, the beach is a lovely, long, clean beach and has stunning walks around the coast. There’s loads of surf shops too.
The town itself is a bit run down, you’d think with the amount of visitors they get it would be worth investing in, but no. Very short sighted as it’s a compact area with great potential.
Several homeless people in shop doors and a few boarded up places. It’s just tatty and we’ll, rough. I’d advise staying on the outskirts and enjoy the coastal/surf vibe.
Sea view room, best view of the sunset you could wish for. Opposite a choice of stunning beaches. Being slightly out of the town centre, even though on a busy road, it was probably a quieter location to stay in given some of the lively guests staying in Newquay! Breakfast was excellent, buffet style with choice of full English, cereal, toast, pastries, fruit, juices etc. The dining room is a lovely big old fashioned room with huge windows over looking the sea. The hotel had ample on site parking which in Cornwall is a huge bonus.
The one bedroom was wonderful. It was a good size and conveniently located for our visit to Newquay and the region. Located next to the hotel enabled us to have dinner and a drink on a couple of nights.
Apartment was a excellent size, with a good size kitchen, lounge and bedroom. The bathroom was hight quality. Kitchen included a full size fridge which was also convenient. Check in and out was efficient and trouble free. Parking was easy to access and right out front of the complex.
Beautiful hotel, lovely staff, would definitely love to stay again. Stayed for one night for an event in Newquay, had an upgrade to a bigger room so had lots of space for getting ready and a late check out was so worth it to spend the extra time enjoying the hotel. Breakfast was delicious and everything was spotless, really good shower and lovely soft bedding on a very comfortable bed. Cannot fault.
The rooms we had were beautiful. We had the best views of Newquay beaches and harbour. The hotel is very clean and well maintained and has beautiful furnishings and art work - lots of Art Nouveau paintings. The location is excellent - few minutes walk to Fistral Beach and the town centre. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be staying here again.
Fantastic location, close to Fistral Beech, Newquay. We came down for a few days in advance of a friend’s party that was hosted at the hotel. We ate in there the first night and then ate out the following days. Without a doubt the food there was the best that we had. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Would we go there again, absolutely!
Exellent place to stay. Great location only 1min walk to centre and 5min to beach.
Very clean and comfortable modern room nicely decorated.
We was very happy to stay there.
Simon and Nell were lovely and so helpful all the time.
The breackfest was exellent.
I highly recommend this lovely hotel for stay in Newquay.
We will be comming back there 🙂🙂.
Warm welcome - Laura and Kev were great hosts making us feel very at home at this lovely family run hotel

Beach and cliffs on your doorstep - what's not to like?
The manager was very helpful on several occasions, including getting our laundry going and reworking our TV remote control. Other employees were helpful too. The location was perfect for exploring Newquay and beyond. The room had everything we needed. The parking was private and convenient.
Beautiful location, lovely hotel, beautiful views and everything we needed. There was a weekend wedding celebration going on, so it was a bit noisy at first, but quieted down in the late evening and we had no problems sleeping. Breakfast was especially wonderful.
Love Newquay and have been to this hotel several times before.
It's in a prime location and they do a very good buffet style breakfast.
Everywhere is clean and tidy and the staff are very helpful.
The swimming pool was also lovely and warm.
Super clean, really friendly hosts, great location (middle of city centre) and really comfy beds. Not so soft, not too hard. Would definitely book again!
Parking: the manor car park is just 1-2 min walk from the hotel. Payed parking.
The house has everything you need; beds are comfortable, rooms are spacious and there are views galore. The pictures genuinely don’t do it justice. it’s perfectly placed in Newquay for beaches and the main town.
The hotel is close to the city centre, breakfast was OK.
The indoor pool was good.
They grouped people for breakfast due to covid situation so the breakfast room was always with less number of people.
The lobby and restaurant/bar areas were clean and nice. Staff were very friendly and the location of the hotel is great. It was also a very cheap stay for Newquay and was dog friendly.
Ideal location from Newquay town centre and only a short distance walk from bus station. Breakfast was really nice and the hosts were absolutely lovely! I would highly recommend.
