Christchurch is a lovely place- my sister moved there 2 years ago and we are a large family so need other accommodation when we visit. The Avon ticked all the boxes and it was like home from home. Close to everything and not far from the beach.
It is a beautiful part of Britain and unspoilt which I hadn’t visited before - usually going to Bournemouth.
It is a must for families with Avon beach so clean and unspoiled with all the amenities you need. The New Forest is also so close.

Except that the hotel location was too far to walk into Christchurch the town itself is lovely especially the walks alongside of the river.
Also as with every location along this coast parking fees are an issue and excessive

Christchurch is basically unchanged and has a village feel but also has good shopping and a market on Mondays. The priory and the walks along the river are beautiful. There is also the regent theatre which has a variety of entertainment.

Quaint old town with lovely riverside walk and various interesting old buildings. We had an excellent meal at very reasonable prices at the Lock and Quay restaurant and we liked the Kings Arms hotel for a drink - very friendly staff and lovely, stylish decor.

Only stayed for 1 night, but used to live in the area. Christchurch is a nice town, a little drive from hotel to get there, coffee shops, takeaways and restaurants are all there. Easy drive to Bournemouth. At the hotel there is a little contstant background road noise and plane noise from around 7.00 am, but did not distract from the novel themed hotel and the location.

My partner and I enjoyed a lovely 3 night stay at Castle Lodge.
Large, comfortable, clean rooms, free parking, friendly hosts and a delicious breakfast made this a very enjoyable stay.
Highcliffe castle and Highcliffe beach are a short walk away which is an added bonus.
As we were going to a wedding Friday evening, the owners kindly accommodated our request for a slightly earlier check-in which was very much appreciated.
I would highly recommend Castle Lodge to anyone wishing to visit this part of Dorset.
The location is lovely in the peaceful countryside while still situated between towns nearby. The staff is lovely and friendly and the atmosphere at the hotel/pub is very cozy and familiar. The rooms were neat and whereas I often struggle with hotel beds, here I had no such issues. This is a perfect location for enjoying Southern England and the beautiful nature it has to offer. Highly recommend!
Located just outside of Burton, handy for Christchurch and Dorset coast - nice dog walks on beach by Highcliffe with fossil finding potential. Well appointed rooms, lovely pub, several different restaurant areas with smaller intimate and larger spaces. Good food. Very helpful and professional staff. Observed the manager dealing with a difficult client very well.
We loved our stay at The Captains Club on the River Stour in Christchurch. We'd booked to stay for 2 nights for our mini-moon and our Executive Room as upgraded to a suite (more like a luxury 2 bed apartment). The welcome chocolates were delicious too as was the daily breakfast. The spa was small, but we had to ourselves at 8am on Friday morning.
Absolutely fabulous location. Beautiful garden. 2 minute walk to the main shops in Christchurch but tucked away in very private courtyard. Loads of walks. Loads of places to eat and drink. Waitrose just down the road. EXCEPTIONALLY clean - not a speck of dust or dirt in sight. Haven’t ever experienced a place like it.
An absolute peach of a hotel, clean, tidy and a very warm welcome from the staff. The room is larger than most, the bed is huge and comfortable. Breakfast is taken in the pub, a great selection is available with plenty of choice whether you choose a full English, lighter option or a great vegetarian/vegan choice.
Tiny, nice hotel, kind and helpful staff, absolutely clean room and bathroom, comfy bed. Coffee and tea machine in the room, so you can easy make a hot beverage and having a rest with, after a busy sightseeing day. The breakfast is also tasty, healthy and beautifully served.
Very clean and comfortable and a really pleasant space, perfect for a short stay. Very close to the lovely Mudeford Quay and Avon Beach and not far to Christchurch and Hengistbury Head so we were able to enjoy some of our favourite places very easily. A real little Gem!
Beautiful hotel, gorgeous room and super helpful staff. We actually arrived a on the wrong day very late after a stressful car breakdown. The staff didn’t bat an eyelid and accommodated us without hesitation
The hotel is situated in the centre of Christchurch. The room was comfortable, clean and the water hot. The staff were polite, friendly and efficient. Breakfast was cooked fresh. It was good value. .
Michelle,Ross and Kevin's reserve host. The position in relation to Christchurch, restaurants, the river, and the no 1b bus into Bournemouth which ran every thirty minutes near Tuxton Bridge.
Well planned. Great welcome by staff member. High degree of cleanliness throughout. Gourmet breakfast. A Fullers hotel and ‘Full o Praise’ hope to try another Fullers soon.
Our hostess could not have been more helpful and enthusiastic about Christchurch, with helpful advice, the best bed and breakfast accommodation I have ever had.
