We were upgraded and so our room though small had a king size, very comfortable bed with very good bed linen. Room had a very nice aspect onto the street. Room was very warm and good tea/coffee making facilities. Bathroom was tiny and difficult to navigate and shower the smallest we have ever encountered (difficult to wash one's hair!). Also, there was some bad mould on the shower tiles that could easily be cleaned. The towels however were excellent. All of the staff at the hotel were exceptionally cheerful, pleasant and helpful.

They made me a special chicken rost dinner when I arrived as I didn’t eat anything on the menu.
Breakfast was ok but other than the cooked breakfast there wasn’t much choice with the other bits like milk, cereal, yogurt etc it may have been because I was the only guest eating breakfast. The cooked breakfast’s there was lots of choice and the full cooked English breakfast was beautiful and very hot and would definitely have it again if I stayed again.

Quaint old building with some modern extensions. Friendly owner (Julie). Comfy bed, firm mattress. Parking right outside. Easy and quite nice walk 5 - 10 mins into Totnes. Nice garden to sit in if warm and sunny. Breakfast food was good. Quiet establishment and area.
Nestled in the village of Dartington between the Dartmoor National Park and the spectacular South Devon coastline, The Cott Inn has been serving since the 1300’s.

Totnes is a beautiful town, very quirky and lots of interesting back streets to explore with cobbled paving and gorgeous old buildings. The main street is very special and full of lovely little independent gift shops, cafes etc. I have been here several times over the years and am always keen to return.

Totnes is a lovely place to visit for a short stay or mini break. We loved the variety of shops in the town which had a lovely vibe. The weekend market was fantastic! We also loved the sustainability factor! Being on the river meant there were also lots of lovely places to explore as well as the opportunity to take a delightful boat trip to Dartmouth! Totnes makes a great base from which to explore other areas like aTorquay, Paignton, Brixham and Dartmouth. There are good transport links so if you don’t drive, it’s not an issue! Would definitely visit Totnes again! :-)

Totnes is one of those places that once visited you know you will return to. It's located on a river that creates a sense of horizontal flow at the bottom of the town. Crossing the bridge towards the town centre, looking up, you may feel a little faint that the main shopping street requires quite a hike to the top of the street. But don't be larmed1 The way to do it is to zig-zag, lacing from one interesting shop to the next. Especially, explore the numerous charity shops for branded shirts and leather jackets presumably gifted by upmarket locals. When you finally get towards the top of the street you will find lovely cafes and restaurants serving delicious local foods. We decided to take away delicious vegetarian food from Seeds, and sit in the little green park, just off the nearby square.

Only visited the Steamer Quay.
Only visited the Steamer Quay. The parking payment options were crap and not working causing a backlog. The Cafe next to the Booking office was excellent and the Boss allowed me to park as I could not obtain a Parking Ticket. The Dartmouth Boat trip is good.

A good spot for an active vacation 4-7 days.
A good spot for an active vacation 4-7 days. Lots of outdoor possibilities, fresh air, good food and friendly people. Local bicycle rental would be nice. Totnes is also a kind of place where a language school for adults might be a success.
It had everything we needed for our 3 night stay to visit family/friends. Very clean and you felt welcome as soon as you entered the cosy annexe . Parking outside the front door and a 5 minute walk into Totnes. We took our I pad so we didn’t miss a tv at all -in fact it was refreshing. Comfy bed and heating if you needed it. Good little outside space for a coffee/glass of wine -which was included in the little welcome pack -Thanks to Natasha the host .
The room and bathroom were excellent, the bed extremely comfortable, a very powerful shower and a lovely huge bath to enjoy in a very nice bathroom. The breakfasts were very good. My husband didn't always want the full English so he would get extra bacon for eg instead of a sausage. The position for the lovely town of Totnes or a walk along the river was perfect. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful a credit to the hotel.
Super location, quiet and tranquil. Beautifully presented property where a lot of thought has gone into the interior design as well as the grounds.
The hosts made us feel very welcome and provided a splendid breakfast that set us up for the day.
The location is ideal for visiting Totnes and the nearby coastal towns, as well as the many National Trust properties in the surrounding area.
A perfect base to explore South Devon.
The hotel is in a fantastic location formerly owned by the chef Keith Floyd. The staff were very welcoming and the food especially the Sunday roast was superb. The breakfast was fantastic. Excellent polite service. We had a budget room but it was clean and comfortable. And the cost? £65 B&B. Compare that with another waterfront hotel we stayed at in Totnes- £160 for the night and very mediocre breakfast for £15 each!!
There were some lovely touches. Tea, coffee and milk on arrival was great. Also a bottle of Prosecco which was a lovely treat.
Location is fantastic right at the top of the high street in Totnes.
Flat was clear, bright and spacious.
We did not meet the hosts (but we could have done if we knocked on their door) however they just left us to it which was nice.
Our host picked us up at the train station. The appartement was very english in the best sense of the word and very cosy. We loved the sight of the castle and the church from our balcony and the short way through the garden to the main street and met very friendly neighbours. We spent a wonderful time there.
Wonderful quaint cottage right in the centre of Totnes but in a quiet position with a lovely small garden to sit and eat. The cottage was spotless and had many unusual pieces of decor to keep us entertained. We could not have asked for anything better we had a great week there and seeing the Devon area.
The location is great. A pub in a quiet area of South Hams in Devon that has great accommodation and is a lovely pub for a drink and meal. All the staff are wonderful and friendly. Food is great. I would definitely recommend for anyone looking to have somewhere to base themselves in South Devon.
The location is ideal for exploring Totnes and then the actual site itself is superb with Grade 11 listed gardens to explore, a pub/restaurant on site and a cinema barn. So much on this Medieval site to explore. There is a peacefulness and serenity to the hotel, despite lots of guests.
Food in the restaurant was amazing! Organic delicious ingredients, cooked with real care and love.
The way the hotel has been renovated is really original and gave us ideas for our own house designs!
Wish more places were this brave in their aim to be sustainable and eco-conscious.
Thank you the Old Forge Hotel and staff 😉
Being a Doorman at the Connaught hotel in Mayfair I know a good service and we were not disappointed in any way 👍
The granddaughter fell in love with the local cat who often put in appearance . She called him cute 🥰
Charming inn above the Steam Packet pub with very friendly staff! Comfortable, well-appointed rooms and a perfect location in Totnes, close to both shops and woodland. I really enjoyed my stay here and would highly recommend!
The decor and ambience of the property, especially the bedrooms and all upstairs was superb. The property was spacious and spotlessly clean and had almost everything required for a perfect stay.
A clean and comfortable apartment with views over Totnes from the outside roof top area. The large living area meant it felt very spacious which more than made up for the size of the bedroom.
beautiful studio tastefully and artistically decorated. lovely and warm, good facilities, brilliant location in the heart of Totnes with parking. hosts were very helpful and friendly
