Open-plan and open-minded, Cambridge is best known for university colleges dating to the 13th century. King’s College is the most popular, and its chapel choir is internationally famous. Although accessed from cobbled King’s Parade, it is best viewed from a punt on The Backs, the part of the River Cam behind.
Cambridge punting is an institution and gives great views of Queen’s College Mathematical Bridge and the Bridge of Sighs at St John’s College. Upstream is Jesus Green, site of an outdoor pool and a fantastic beer festival. Next to this is Midsummer Common, a park home to the annual Strawberry Fair (and the occasional cow). Opposite are the college boathouses - get up early to see the rowers in action!
Cows also roam the Mill Pond meadow, where the river leads south to Grantchester, a quaint village with a lovely cafe. Places to eat in Cambridge include riverside restaurants and typical English pubs like The Eagle, drinking hole of DNA founders Watson & Crick.
Cambridge shopping options include a daily market (in Market Square), the Grafton Centre and the exclusive Grand Arcade, the latest addition. The Scott Polar Museum and free Fitzwilliam Museum are 2 of many fantastic Cambridge museums.
Stansted Airport is connected by train to the city’s accommodation choices on Booking.com.
We didn't visit the Centre of Cambridge.
We visited the Museum of the History of Computing which was fascinating! We then travelled across Cambridge to Eddington to stay at the Hyatt Centric for the night.
We chose this hotel as it was opposite The Storey's Field Centre which was hosting a concert.
The hotel was excellent, in house restaurant The Astronomer catered well for vegetarians.
Eddington is a really lovely area, well thought out, looks new and clean and inviting! Love to go back

Have been in this historic town several times.
Have been in this historic town several times. Always mesmerised by the beauty, culture, historic presence, academic ethos of this town. There are different characteristic colleges of Cambridge University within short walking distance. A lot to see, experience and great food. Lovely scenery, green space and enjoyable stroll along River Cam. Impressive architecture. Very fond of Cambridge with good memories. The museums contain treasure. Not enough time to see everything. Will come again.

Even more beautiful than the photos!
Even more beautiful than the photos! Very clean and we felt very safe! The day tickets for the bus was £3.50 each and they last for 24 hours which is amazing! All flat so more bikes than cars which is great to see. Some paths can be quite thin and the roads always flowing with bikes and cars. I don’t know how ideal it would be for wheelchair access. We ate at The Astronomer as that was the closest to our apartments. We ate at Novi, Fitzbillies (we was stuffed!! Great food and prices), the MillWorks (only dog friendly in the bar area - the two tall tables). Benets and chop house were great locations for outdoor drinks with good views. The Lucy&Yak store and staff were amazing. Such a great, safe space and size inclusive. Full of colour. The giraffe walking tour was fabulous to get us exploring the city! We would’ve visited museums and botanical gardens if they was dog friendly!!

Crowded - difficult to get a decent seat for coffee.
Crowded - difficult to get a decent seat for coffee. A restaurant we used last time did not offer English food on the Sunday and were so, so slow.
I wish we had brought a paper map - the online maps are so cluttered and confusing - we just wanted to know where the churches were and Google was just not up to it. A bus map with all the stops would have been very useful and would have saved us some time - again the Google mapping of stops was poor, and the automatic times at the stops sometimes wildly out.
Fitzwilliam museum - some brilliant displays, but cafe disappointing. All you need to know is that the Universal electric bus (U1/U2, Kermit-green) from the station does stop right outside.
When you travel up from Kings Cross station in London make sure you catch the 'fast' train - it can be difficult to find the platform and you can easily catch the very-slow by mistake... staff are unhelpful so (1) work out the geography of the station first, then(2) keep your eyes glued to the main departure board till the platform shows, and (3) run!

We enjoyed walking around the colleges. The market was fun.
We enjoyed walking around the colleges. The market was fun. The botanical garden is lovely. We had many options of halal restaurants for dinner - not the case in every town/city.
Unfortunately, as it was not term time, evensong in King's Chapel was not on. I wanted my partner to hear it as it is so beautiful.

Cambridge is a beautiful and interesting city, but I was sorry that my visit wasn't in term time. Then it would have been really buzzing, and I would have been able to experience evensong at King's College chapel.
We stayed in two of the chalet rooms, away from the main hotel. It was super quiet and our room over looked a horse paddock which the children loved!
Huge beds, comfy soft furnishings and a very clean and well presented un suite shower.
Cambridge city centre was a short walk to the park & ride (10mins) and then the same again on the bus so a great location.
We walked to the plough pub in the evening - a 20 min walk through fields that was sign posted throughout. The pub was lovely with a big children’s play area. A lovely stay.
Fantastic location - steps from the river, close to city centre, providing easy access to the whole of Cambridge (I walked over 60 miles during my stay!)
Free parking is fantastic. Able to park in a secure location, mere steps away from the accommodation.
Excellent standard of accommodations, clean, modern. Bathroom lovely, toiletries really nice.
Really appreciated all the personal touches - provision of tea, coffee, milk, butter, cooking oil, bread, pasta etc.
Seb who met me with the keys was charming and helpful.
Lovely hotel in a great location as it was only a short Uber ride away from Cambridge center, where we did lots of sight seeing. Me and my best friend came for a girly pamper weekend away for my daughter's 5th birthday and the room was great size for 2 adults and a child, with a double bed and large sofa bed. Daughter absolutely loved the pool and there was plenty of time for her to get her use of it within the child allocated time slot. Breakfast was very nice, with good variety.
The hotel is very well located near the station, giving easy access to Cambridge city centre.
The actual hotel appears brand new, very modern, clean rooms with all the modern amenities you would need. The bed was very comfortable, the decor was very stylish. I loved the pool and the gym.
This is also the first time I’ve come across the WhatsApp system to contact reception. I cannot fault the hotel for comfort, style and location. The staff were lovely and very accommodating.
We didn't have breakfast in the hotel, we chose the Ramada cambridge for its location it is quite close to Duxford Air field and the air shows we attend.
It is at the services so we have a wide variety of places to get food and drink and newsagents, all in all the Ramada is a good base to see the best bits of Cambridge.
Absolutely gorgeous, high-end hotel with all the amenities located on a beautiful park and walkable to everything Cambridge has to offer. Friendly staff and a beautiful restaurant. Exquisitely decorated. They even had a pillow menu so you could select your ideal type of pillow! Loved our stay.
Stayed in the beautiful Gonville Hotel in Cambridge for our weeding anniversary. Excellent central location, wonderfully presented hotel, fabulous, comfortable room, great food and professional and friendly stay. Can't wait to go back.
The property was well equipped for our stay - and was very clean and comfortable. The art work in the property was really appropriate for a visit to Cambridge. And the lounge was very comfy. The host was also excellent.
Great suite with plenty of space for a family. Kitchen was well equipped. Bathroom was top. Bus to the city centre of Cambridge stops right next to the hotel. Sainsbury next door.
Fabulous to be based at a Cambridge college, to be able to roam the campus, attend Evensong at the ancient chapel, have breakfast in the student dining hall. Perfect!
Location is amazing for seeing Cambridge. The outlook of the hotel is perfectly historic in theme for a visit to Cambridge and breakfast was one of the best.
Good location in central Cambridge, clean updated well-appointed rooms, nice hotel lobby & bar. Excellent breakfast too. Hilton have the right formula.
