Penrith town very nice and quaint! The locals were lovely - in the bars, hotel and on the streets. We visited Coniston lake and enjoyed it. Very pretty. nice cafe and food. boat trip very good. Went to see Arthur's Round Table! Delightful. Nice hotel for coffee opposite.

    Penrith is a lovely town.

Penrith is a lovely town. It has all the facilities you need such as supermarkets, bars and restaurants. I was impressed with the cleanliness too. It is an ideal place to stay in to explore The Lakes as well as castles nearby.

Nice buildings with lots of character.

Nice buildings with lots of character. No huge shops but loads of smaller varied places. The town was alive and generally well kept. Good range of eating places and some really good pubs. The town is not huge, so once there everything is easy to walk. It's not particularly hilly, though heading for the castle is uphill.

Penrith is a great little town close to Ullswater , plenty of restaurants and independent shops. The house itself is close to town centre and pay parking. Free street parking is available a short distance ( uphill) away.it is a lovely house for a family , well equipped and clean - books and games for adults and children. We are highly likely to stay again.

2nd trip to Roundthorn hotel. 1st time we stayed in the hotel, this time in one of the 2 bedroom apartments for 3 nights. Loved the standard of the apartment, especially the spacious living area. Free scone with the latte is still a nice touch. Eating dinner next to a log fire surrounded by christmas decorations was delightful. Going to look into staying next christmas/new year as we've been told the parties are great fun. Staff are probably the friendliest of any hotel we've ever stayed in.

Welcoming and helpful without being intrusive. Comfortable spacious room with seats as well as beds (unlike YHA). Decent sprung mattresses without rubbery covers (again unlike YHA). Clean well-designed kitchen. Not far from town centre yet in a quiet area. Dry room and bike storage (even though I didn't need these on this occasion). Nice fluffy towels available to hire very cheaply if you don't have your own.

Great hotel, very easy to find. Perfect for us as we were traveling with our two small dogs and they are dog friendly. Room was fully equipped and there were little treats left for our daughter and dogs. We ate dinner at the restaurant and had breakfast in the morning and we were happy both times, service and food was great. We will definitely return if we are looking for somewhere to stay in that area.

Great central location in Penrith for a stay for work. Close to all shops and services in Penrith and the hotel has a convenient private car park which was £3.00 per stay. The room was very comfortable and warm, much needed during the cold snap! Breakfast was good, staff were friendly and available,

Everything went well. I loved the location - overlooking the castle and listening to a song thrush serenading me. I also liked staying in an old station hotel. I'm a big of a steam buff.
